Introduction

Mallary Jean Tenore is managing director of Images & Voices of Hope (IVOH). She believes the media can play a powerful role in connecting communities, restoring hope, and giving people a reason to care about issues in today’s society.

Given how much the public distrusts the media, there’s a growing need to highlight what’s working rather than focusing on what’s broken. As managing director, Mallary looks for stories, photographs, art, film and more that captures how the media can be a force for good.

Prior to joining IVOH, Mallary was managing editor of The Poynter Institute’s media news site, Poynter.org. She remains an adjunct faculty member at the institute and teaches sessions on social media.

Mallary grew up outside of Boston and graduated from Providence College in Rhode Island. She now resides in St. Petersburg, FL. and is currently writing a memoir. You can reach her at mtenore@ivoh.org.
