Is Your Nail Polish Toxic?

Many personal care products are known to be toxic.
What about your harmless little bottle of nail color, is it toxic too?

Well, you might be surprised to find out you do need to watch the ingredients in nail polish especially if you let your children paint their nails or if you’re pregnant.

The rest of us should do our best to avoid the toxins in nail polish, too.
It’s one less toxin to worry about and it’s fairly easy to control.

I like to reduce my toxin exposure when I can so my body can work on detoxing the ones I can’t control.

3 Ingredients To Watch Out For
Some of the chemical ingredients found in nail polish have been found to be detrimental to human health for a number of reasons.
Here are the top 3 to watch out for:

Toluene. It can cause problems in the central nervous system, dizziness, and reproductive harm.

Formaldehyde. A carcinogen and is used in laboratories to preserve dead things. There are strict warnings for use of formaldehyde in anything that touches the skin or can be inhaled

DBP. Known to cause reproductive problems and is classified as a highly dangerous chemical causing problems in the organs and endocrine. So much so, that DBP is banned in Europe.

Those 3 together make up what some call the toxic trio .

Most major brands are removing these ingredients but keep an eye out.

Probiotics… Do You Need Them?

Probiotics, also referred to as good bacteria, contribute toward health and maintain a healthy digestive system.

Our body is full of bacteria, which is both good and bad, and while we often think of bacteria only as something bad, there are some bacteria that are good, like these, helping keep the gut healthy.

Probiotics are found in the body naturally and also occurs in some foods. You can also get them as a supplement.

Only in the past decade has research conducted on probiotics shed light on its benefits.

The term was first coined in 1965 by researchers Lilly and Stilwell; however, sales of probiotic foods touched its peak from 2010 to 2012, increasing by as much as 79 percent.

10 Tips To Help You Avoid Weight Gain

Most of us have days that our food choices aren’t stellar especially during the holidays. Here are my tips to help you avoid weight gain.

1) Don’t feel guilty – Some days we will need a little comfort food or we will have a special event/family gathering where we will eat some not so healthy food. Guilt is the number one reasons we end up over indulging. (or is that just me?) We figure, we’ve already had some junk, might as well eat junk all day. Don’t do it!

2) Drink lots of water – Drinking water will help flush toxins from our body and help us fill full. If we are full we may not eat as much. Add some lemon to the water to make it extra detoxifying.

Lately, I’ve been drinking a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar and water before a big meal. It seems to cut my appetite and bloat. Be sure to get organic apple cider vinegar with the “mother” like this brand.

3) Eat a smaller portion – Try a smaller amount first. It might just take 2 Hershey kisses to make you smile rather than 8 (like I typically eat). 1 piece of pecan pie that your mother-n-law made could be just as satisfying as eating half the pie in one sitting and then complaining that your stomach is bloated (Dave’s personal experience).

4) Delay Eating – Tell yourself “I will eat this small portion now and another portion tomorrow”. Most of the time when I do this I never end up eating the portion the next day.

5) Eat some protein before you indulge – Protein can offset the blood sugar spike we have after eating sugar. It’s also great idea to do this before you go to a party or family meal where you know your favorite sweet treats will be served.

One of the quickest and most nutritious ways to get protein is to drink a Meal Replacement shake such as IsaLean by Isagenix. The protein will help your blood sugar stay stable and it will fill you up so you eat less. If you want something a little less filling try a quick serving of IsaPro. It’s just a protein supplement with 18 grams of undenatured whey.

6) Try substituting healthier ingredients – I’ve learned to make muffins and cookies from Almond Flour and Coconut Flour . These flours contain healthy fat, protein and won’t affect your blood sugar. I use stevia or xylitol as sugar substitutes.

7) Cleanse daily – I take Cleanse for Life at night before bed. The nutrients in this product will help your body naturally remove toxins and help you keep from storing fat.

8) Exercise – Doing about 10 minutes of exercises such as lunges, pushups and jumping jacks before you indulge may help you control your blood sugar and reduce fat storage. I personally jump on the trampoline and do pushups and lunges.

9) Stop eating by 6pm – This will allow your body a longer time to burn off those extra calories. Essentially this is intermittent fasting.
10) Enjoy and then get back on track – Enjoy the treat or the holiday feast then get back on track. Don’t beat yourself up. Just go back to a healthy eating plan. If you don’t know where to start I suggest the 30 Day Superfood System. You can use this system even during the holidays and still get results.

I hope these tips help you avoid weight gain during the holidays or any time of the year. Take a deep breath and enjoy!

5 Key Benefits of High Intensity Interval Training

In 2014, according to a survey by The American College of Sports Medicine, high-intensity interval training was one of the top two fitness trends. If you do not already know, let us quickly review what HIIT is all about and talk about what makes it so popular (it’s benefits!).

High Intensity Interval Training includes short, quick, but intense bursts of exercise, coupled with short recovery periods. You are supposed to give it all your effort.

HIIT burns more fat in less time and is known to keep your heart rate up.
As opposed to regular aerobic or workouts, the short time for which you make your 100 percent effort creates an oxygen shortage, making the body ask for more during the rest period. This Excess Post Exercise Oxygen Consumption (EPOC) is the reason behind more calories being burnt.

Do you know what I’m holding?

Have you heard of the FASCIA BLASTER?

The Fascia Blaster is a handheld tool that is like dry brushing and using a foam roller, but it reaches the inside layers of your skin rather than just on top.

I got my first fascia blaster last April. I admit I was drawn to it for the for cellulite reduction and skin smoothing but after I learned about all the benefits I was totally thrilled.

Should You Purchase The Fascia Blaster?
Yes, Yes, Yes. Aside from supplements, I think this could be the most important purchase for your health this year.

The benefits are countless and you never have to re-order it.

***I’m not a distributor for it but I wish I could be. I can’t stop talking about it.
