My favorite #DNC  speech thus far. Powerful. Appealing to heartfelt aspirations within us all to defend the vulnerable, to unite in service.

Exploring the Deeper Human Experience

After putting this website into sleep mode in the spring of 2013, I’m now resuscitating Alchemy of Change with a new focus on exploring the Soul. It’s a significant change, so in this post I outline why I’m making it and what to expect there going forward.

I'll essentially be segmenting my writing into two streams: on Alchemy of Change the focus on Soul is more personal and intuitive, while the Vital Edge will continue its focus on technology, organizations and the future of the human experience in an era of machine intelligence.

Official Post from Maia Duerr: As I settled into my writing over this past month, a friend shared with me these "11 Commandments" from the great Henry Miller. I can't say that I'm following them to a 't' -- and some are very specific to Miller -- but one thing I have learned is just how important ritual and discipline are in supp

I'm gathering a list of our assumptions and beliefs about "work" -- things like:
* Time is money
* You need to work really hard until you retire so you have enough in your retirement account for the remaining years of your life.
* There’s more security in working for a company than in going out on your own.

What are some beliefs that you've held about 'work' and what that looks like in your life?

Introduction
I love to bring mindful awareness into the process of helping organizations and businesses become more effective in what they do, and in getting people engaged in their mission. Some hats that I wear:
  • Cultural Anthropologist
  • Writer
  • Buddhist Chaplain
  • Change agent

My purpose on the planet:
To open hearts and minds through my writing and presence.

How that manifests these days:

I created The Liberated Life Project to offer tools for personal and collective liberation. The LLP supports people to live lives full of awareness, creativity, connection, and joy.

Through my business, Five Directions, I help progressive nonprofit organizations to build more engaged communities.

I contribute to the conversation about socially engaged Buddhism on my blog, The Jizo Chronicles.
