The next version of ECMA Script has a lot of great declarative programming additions: destructured arguments and collection pipeline functions are two of my favorite. Learn more here: https://babeljs.io/docs/learn-es6/ (Of course there are also a few additions that foster imperative programming, but we don't have to use those.)

Clojure is a Lisp family language developed for the Java Virtual Machine. It has a much stronger emphasis on pure functional programming than Common Lisp, but includes several STM utilities to handle state as it comes up. This combination allows it to handle concurrent processing very simply, ...

#ProjectFi  was just announced. I like the features, but +RingPlus is still cheaper for me. (I usually pay between $3-5/month.) My wife is a little bit more talkative than I am and her bill is more, but our combined total average is still only $16.50/month. The same service with Project Fi would cost our family about $50/month.

Dear  +Google+
Do I want to see what my friends and business are doing on Google Plus? Yes. Do I want to see them every time I log in? NO! I'm getting annoyed that I continually see the same posts that were shared and "plus one-ed" back in December!  #makeGooglePlusBetter   #consideringDiferentNetwork

I really like how this author breaks functional programming into the basics: http://www.smashingmagazine.com/2014/07/02/dont-be-scared-of-functional-programming/
Functional programming is the mustachioed hipster of programming paradigms. Originally relegated to the annals of computer science academia, functional programming has had a recent renaissance that is due largely to its utility in distributed systems (and probably also because “pure” functional languages like Haskell are difficult to grasp, which gives them a certain cache).

Well, your Class.getAverageTemp() looks like you've created a static method on a class which (if it is static) is really just a function in the class' namespace. The point of functional programming is to reuse more code and to reduce state, there's no reason that you can't namespace a group of functions together too like you can on a class.

There is an article, Out of the Tarpit (a bit long, but totally worth it) that explains some of the negative effects of state. Another article (which is a lot shorter and easier to read) by Robert Martin http://blog.8thlight.com/uncle-bob/2012/12/22/FPBE1-Whats-it-all-about.html explains functional programming (albeit with some errors in his code) and why he feels that functional programming will eventually supplant OOP (his answer also has to do with state).

Spam comment of the night: What a material of un-ambiguity and preserveness of precious know-how on the topic of unexpected
feelings.

(By the way, I have a post scheduled on http://www.tuesdayDeveloper.com for next Tuesday. I'm going to try this regular blogging thing again.)

Several things, I'm currently looking at the routing. They have model, afterModel, setupController, and several more that all run at specific times and when you have sub-routes it runs some on the child routes before the parent stuff.... Figuring out the order that things are handled in is a chore.
