When we 'learn about' things through explicit learning, only a part of our ability is kindled. Most of learning can be facilitated by tact learning , where in we are 'learning to be' by understanding people and processes around us. The Magnet School facilitates 'learning to be' along with 'learning about the world we live in.

The Scholar’s Studio at The Magnet School for Grades 5 – 12 facilitates:
* Scientific Temperament: An attitude of learning, understanding , comprehending and scientific analysis will enable learners to excel in Sciences , Mathematics and allied disciplines
* Critical Thinking: An ability to think critically will enable learners to have a strong fundamental base in basic as well as applied sciences
* Inquiry Based Learning: The ability to ask relevant questions will help learners in entering any field in Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Technology and allied fields
* Knowledge Construction: The proficiency to understand the difference between information, content, knowledge, and wisdom is facilitated through the Scholar’s Studio
* Analytical Reasoning: Analytical reasoning prepares learners to perform well in competitive exams as well as research oriented interests

According to J.A. Lackney, who researched and published on Studio based learning, the roots of the approach are seeded in John Dewey’s laboratory school at The University of Chicago. Learning and facilitation approaches at The Magnet School are entrenched in social constructivist approach to learning. Hence, it is fitting that John Dewey’s work and education philosophy inspires our work at The Magnet School.
