A good weekend you will have if you drive safe and pay attention, especially near Star Wars: The Force Awakens screenings. Check out what happens when a tie fighter doesn't follow the rules of the road! #starwarstheforceawakens   #starwars   #maytheforcebewithyou   #forceforgood   #lawenforcement   #MountainView   #police

Cops That Care is almost here! One of our favorite holiday events has been a great success in years prior thanks to the generosity of our amazing community.

We are still looking for some gift card donations, so if you would like to donate, please follow the link below! From all of us here at the Mountain View Police Department, thank you so much, and happy holidays!

Our officers don't bat an eye when running into dangerous situations to help people. Reading books in front of a crowd of school children? Yikes, that's scary! All kidding aside, our officers had a blast participating in Bubb Elementary School/PTA's "Reading Under the Stars" program last week. As you can see by the photos, we had a blast. Thank you Bubb students for being great listeners!

Indeed, it was one of our officers who stopped a +Google Self-Driving Car Project car today. Here's what happened: http://mountainviewpoliceblog.com/2015/11/12/inquiring-minds-want-to-know/

Today members of MVPD proudly participated in the City of #MountainView unveiling of a recognition plaque and service emblems at the Mountain View Veterans Memorial. Special guest included Major General Nickolas Tooliatos of the 63rd Regional Support Command for the United States Army Reserve, who thanked all service veterans on this day of recognition. From the MVPD family to all #veterans, thank you for your service to our country.

Good morning #MountainView. The roads are slick and visibility is reduced this morning with the much welcomed rain. Drive safe, not distracted. Allow extra time to get to work & school and please keep an eye out for cyclists and pedestrians.

9-1-1 is never on holiday, but our dispatchers got into the spirit of the season with these amazing gingerbread houses. Which is your favorite? Let us know what you think and next week, learn which house was selected as the winner!

Hello, I was hoping you could help me. I realize police are in the news a lot lately and usually not in the best of light. In fact, according to the news it would seem most police are bad with only a small few good ones out there. But I would argue that the news purposefully paints a negative light and creates that false perception for ratings. I believe that most police love their jobs and strongly believe in their oath. How can I get others to see this view as well and fight back against negative perceptions?
