Unless, of course, you struggle with a physical handicap. But this is not an accessibility image. It is a health one.

I dont know. I would think the "art" on the right would benefit more from the stairs on the left :-)

I use escalators on the left side (walking) because it's faster:D

The image is pointing out the consequences of using the escalator and the consequences of using the stairs.

As a not so subtle hint. Which body would you prefer to have?

:)这个搞反了吧,应该胖得多运动运动吧

Yeah I got that the first time +M Monica, I was pointing out that oddly it works the other way too.

Hatred of fat people is the last form of allowable bigotry.

this is wonderful, those are the things that make people think :o)

what you are missing is they charged double to take the stairs and called it a weight loss program. FAT WOMEN actually lose weight when they park way out at the shopping malls because they have to WALK IN. Small changes like taking stairs and parking away and walking will naturally bring your weight down. Get off the couch, get out of the car, WALK up stairs.

No, it is not bigotry. It is about keeping yourself healthy, and keeping healthcare affordable.

I am immensely physically ill. I have also been overweight due to the steroids my doctors put me on at one point in time. I did physical therapy and worked hard to get back to a healthy weight for reasons of health. Believe me, you do not know what a power and strength physical health has until it is taken from you.

Interesting comments. Some think its rude, some think its informative. I think that it highlights the issue of an open discussion without offending anyone, is that possible?

im just sayin if your going to pu something like that on here keep it with u and your friends not public

hmmm. because in a public forum it is not a point to discuss? I read a report recently from the national science foundation that states that Americans are developing into a county of obese and overweight citizens. Is that subject like "Off limits" to even bring into the town square and discuss?

Rude or not. It's a sign of different evolutionary maxims. People value their health, while others blatantly ignore it and point fingers at society. While you're sitting calling us out, I'm about to do some pull ups, get ready to ride my bike to work and value my ass not conforming to a chair.

It should be changed over side.

I think the pictures should be reversed... My opinion though...

It should show the opposite to motivate change of behavior!

Nice. Now I'd be on the flooring laughing if I saw that.

There are fat people in the world get the Fnck over it and worry about your own problems

To the left: Americans
To the right: Other

I think fat people should take the stares to loss some weight.)

lol! Could have used sometime like these more than once!

+Marie ruest while you're right, some people are obese from certain circumstances in their lives, that's only a percentage of the obese population. Most of the nation's obesity is being caused by one's own self-destructive behaviors. Individuals who would rather eat what tastes good than to rid their bodies of the toxic crap manufactured by McDonald's and Little Debbie. The other percentage are innocent children who's mother's love them literally to their death by allowing them the freedom to eat when they choose without a proper meal plan and put within their reach said Little Debbie crap. Obesity isn't always out of our hands. I have hypothyroidism...yes...the one that makes an individual obese. I weigh 120 lbs. I do it by not eating garbage with empty calories and sugar, greasy and fried...in general...everything that everyone else indulging in. Where there is a will there is a way.

people are just rude, no common sense i dont care if your fat, or thin...if your an ass you agree with what this idiot did...being fat is not a choice for some people its heredity, enviroment, stress, or a medical condition...time to grow up people

it should be the other way so people can really work out if you know what i mean

I would certaintly follow that one

seems redundant -- like someone actually needs instruction? And it is abusive to tubbies. : (

having now read the commentary above - i believe the point of a street art like this is to engender this kind of discussion. So now, when you are faced with the stairs and escalator, if you are capable, will you opt for the stairs. Is there a tiny part of your brain that will say, "that's healthier, I want to be healthier so I will take the stairs?"

Some people feel the art is mean. Well so are a lot of art pieces. But it is up to the viewer to opine on the art. If all you take away is that it is mean, then you aren't really thinking of all the possibilities. And if you feel that discussing what this art means is taboo, then you aren't open to exploring different ideas and concepts regarding both art and healthy lifestyles.

Now, you have reached the end of the internet for the day. Go outside and PLAY!

That is hilarious - and stating a true fact. I know I sit too much thanks to my day job. Gotta move when not at work! (But I do take the stairs when I can!)

Creative and plz make sure which way you're going ok :D

Well done +George Cohn, you beat me to it. That was the first thing I thought of too. It’s great to make a statement via street art, it’s better to make a difference or to make people think about making the change.

to be honest im not sure the guy on the right would fit...

What a powerful yet simple view on today's society. AKA: Wow that is totally awesome!

Fatty's get to go up the escelator they should take the staires to get exersize.

Just forget the mark on the floor.. it is actually showing the mindset of fat & thin people...

This is a good gimmick :)

lol that absolutely funny!!

Dear Janice Hohl:
Discrimination? Are you kidding me?? Heard of FREEDOM OF SPEECH, or is that phrase way too archaic for you?

I love how the ones that agree with this crap can't spell worth a crap..... classice ignorance is not bliss people time to grow up

now if we could only convince those who are guided to the right to do more of the left side...

Thats Just Wrong! Judging people on their size!

That's the end result.I use stairs every day.

MY POINT NOW PROVEN THEY'RE JUST SICK BAST**

mean... but extremely funny! :)

ok 2 things to say 1.that is true and 2.that is kind of mean to say I think it goes the other way around too

funny (but not being unrespectful!)

hahahaha hahahahahaahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah not

thats a strange thing to post

I don't agree with as the person requires more physical exertion ro swet the fat on strairs.

this is just hilarious... kind of a 'fact of life' moment and reflection of our society~ ...after a few more seconds looking at this, the images should be swapped actually. right?

Should be the other way around....that is why America has such an obesity epidemic.....yet we coddle and cater to unhealthy lifestyles instead of shaping up:-(

+Leathur Rokk If they turned it around "Somebody" might be offended.

i feel bad laughing at this, but its still funny

it should b the other way round i guess... those who r fat need to lose weight for good... :)

ha ha lol!!!!!!! funny or what!!!!!!!!!!!1

fat people are the ones who have to use the stairs XD they must at least try to work out even in stairs

wrong, the fat dude would crush the elevator :3

thats a good one just try to make hope a fat person does not look at this ever +1 if you agree

I don't, it should be the other way around.

I love it.

But I use escalators as they were intended. You walk up them while they move and get to the top twice as fast.

so funny(and embarising if u go on the stairs)

that so underestimates ppl's abilities in life

This isnt mean, its true. Everyone should excersize and take care of their body.

Holy crap the morality is on overload here... are we so "PC" now that we can't just laugh at something funny? This is coming from me and my fat 320lb ass...

this is demeaning. If this is art this artist is an asshole

hey benjamin smartnick my name is nyasia and i am new on Google+

Perhaps there are some of you who did not see my earlier comment:

"No, it is not bigotry. It is about keeping yourself healthy, and keeping healthcare affordable.

I am immensely physically ill. I have also been overweight due to the steroids my doctors put me on at one point in time. I assure you, you'd better fight for your health now if it still remains to you, and you still have the power to do so. Because if you don't, you'll be fighting in other arenas; diabetes, depression, and struggling with medication. And it will be immensely more costly to you than simply taking the stairs.
