► Moody Mount Cook

I was in New Zealand in April 2017 for a 3 month Road Trip around the South Island on a mission to see as much and capture as much timelapse footage as I could, these vlogs show you what I got up to on a day to day basis.

Day 43 NZ // Did you see the last vlog? well, you should check it out below because it was very special.

Had a rest day due to the weather, spent the day editing, washing clothes, and finally had my 2nd sit down meal in NZ, outside of my car.

I stayed in Twizel, which is 30km south of Mount Cook, Twizel is the largest town in the Mackenzie District, in the Canterbury Region of New Zealand's South Island. The town was founded in 1968 to house construction workers on the Upper Waitaki Hydroelectric Scheme.

During the summer, holidaymakers nearly triple the town's population.

I spent the day scouting locations to shoot Mount Cook.

Trying to find a different angle was proving challenging, however, it gave me an opportunity to explore the area, there is so much to see I couldnt wait to see every bit of it.

► Road to Aoraki Mount Cook New Zealand

Day 41 NZ // Did you see the last vlog? well, you should check it out below because it was very special.

Today was one of the highlights of my trip, seeing Mount Cook for the very first time, and it did not disappoint.

I was out of the Wanaka area quite early, first stop Lindis Pass, quite spectacular in its own right, I must admit I preferred the Crown Range Pass however from above the Linidis Pass is quite spectacular.

The day ended up becoming very busy, I then stopped at the Clay Cliffs just south of Twizel, very unique just wasnt the right time of day for filming, next stop was one of the most amazing reflection lakes I have ever seen, I couldnt resist and I am sure you will agree, but finally as the sun began to set I saw Mount Cook, I planned for 10 days in the area, covering Mount Cook, Twizel and Lake Tekapo, in the end it wouldnt be enough but I did come back again a few more times before I left New Zealand.

Day 40 NZ // Did you see the last vlog? well, you should check it out below because it was very special.

I spent the day making my way slowly to Wanaka from Queenstown, the plan originally was to get to Mount Cook but instead I spent the day washing clothes, editing and uploading videos and catching up on emails, boring I know but life on the road sometimes is like this, you need a down day or two to catch up, the day ended well though with a spectacular sunset in Wanaka.

Day 39 NZ // Did you see the last vlog? well, you should check it out below because it was very special.

Milford Sound is a fiord in the southwest of New Zealand’s South Island. It’s known for towering Mitre Peak, rainforests and waterfalls. The fiord is home to fur seal colonies, penguins and dolphins.

Milford Sound is acclaimed as New Zealand's most famous tourist destination and had previously been called the Eighth Wonder of the World.

I had a week to explore the area, it only took the drive in to be blown away by its beauty.

Today was my last day in Milford (for now) I spent the morning working out my route for the next few weeks, on my way out I spotted a mirror lake like I hadnt seen before, it was mesmerizing.

As I headed toward Te Anau I stopped off at Lake Te Anau and witnessed one of the most tranquil sunsets in New Zealand, I was on my own, nobody around and for the first time in quite a while I sat and enjoyed the moment without worrying to much about setting cameras up. Every now and then you need to sit and take it all in, create lifelong memories to look back on forever.

Today I spent most of the day at a spot I found on my first day in the area, if you blink you would miss it, even when explaining it to a few people they couldn't find it, lucky me I guess.

Before I came to New Zealand I had a few locations I really wanted to find and shoot, one was this, the tranquillity even with the loud roar of the water flowing was so peaceful if it wasn't for the sand flies I would have stayed there all day and just watched the water.

The day had finally come for not only my Cruise around the Fjord but also my Heli flight, landing on a Glacier, WOW doesn't even come close to what I experienced, when I go back I cannot wait to do it again, if you get the chance make sure you choose a Heli Flight when deciding on things to do at Milford Sound.
