Would you believe me if I told you cooking is making me a better or at least more creative music producer? I do a lot of fusion cooking, which means I combine ingredients, recipes and techniques from different cultures to make one meal. I've been taking a lot of the foods I grew up on and combining them with different ingredients. It can be as simple as Indian curry with Collard greens (Southern US meets India) or adding a spoonful of hummus (Mediterranean) and cilantro (Mexican) to a bowl of grits. Now how does getting wierd in the kitchen relate to music? I can sample a piece of the New York Symphony orchestra and add conga drums as percussion with an 808 bass drop(Classical, African, Southern HipHop). Or I can mix Arthur Verocai with Willie Hutch...it's the ultimate in being 2,3, or 4 places at once.
