From my own totally unqualified perspective, Nintendo has been the only company that ever even tried to maintain any sort of fight for dedicated game consoles. Instead of cramming in all the latest/greatest bells & whistles through the cheapest and fastest adoption of the most generic platforms being mass produced, they (again) tried to focus and remain a pure gaming experience. The more other stuff anyone has tried to cram into a game system, the less it has been a game system and the more it has had to make concessions and optimizations contrary to the gaming experience.

The greatest value properties they own (the Mario, Zelda,  Donkey Kong, Metroid, etc ... titles) have been enough to keep them from going under (maybe bolstered by the fact that they kept most of their hardware priced below the competition) for far longer than I think anyone really expected. I would hate to see them completely give in and go out like Sega did after the Dreamcast. While part of me thinks there is a bit of novelty in tapping UUDDLRLRBA out on an iPhone, I cannot accept that as a "quality" game experience.

I, for one, hope that the pure gaming console (and Nintendo as its champion) manages to live on. It will need to grow and adapt in ways that have not been figured out just yet, no doubt, but just giving up on the concept makes me sad.

+Valery Chutak is that really really a problem? Buisness men have been using the ipad with all sorts of adapters to get the best use of it now people are going crazy because the mac has a single port

The surface pro has 2 ports and a “magnetic charger” similar to the likes of what you only see on Macbook up toll today if
The surface pro was using a
type - c usb it would probably be the same

It's sureal how the actions described in this article are still "aspirational" in the Apple world. And frankly, these aspirations set a very low bar.

+Pulkit Agrawal The big difference here is that the MacBook is a great Mac, and people like Macs. It's not even an expensive Mac. It's right there in the price range of Apple's most popular Macs.

What's the Chromebook Pixel? It's a great Chromebook (which people don't like), and it's an absurdly expensive one.

You say that these two notebooks are suitable for the same audience, and that the Chromebook Pixel is both better and cheaper for this audience.

Your assertion will be easily proven wrong when the MacBook handily outsells the Pixel.
