"We always told ourselves that if we were successful, we were building a tool to give a voice to the voiceless."
With the help of Periscope, a live video streaming app, and Facebook Live, the cable network that covers Congress got its story.

The night the Cavs did something very un-Cleveland-like. They won.

"We don’t always use our inside voices." - Trent Renzor about how the Apple Music sausage gets made. 💿📀🎧
Twelve months of Apple Music have brought the service 15 million paid subscribers and, for its architects, a sense of optimistic, if slightly cautious, calm. Or so it looked at the Apple Worldwide Developers’ Conference on Monday afternoon, where Apple senior vice president of Internet Software and Services Eddy Cue, ‎vice president of Content and Media Apps Robert Kondrk, Nine Inch Nails frontman and Apple Music Chief Creative Officer Trent Rezn...

They may not exist now. But new discoveries imply that they once did.

"You’re not watching a movie anymore. You’re watching a 24-pack of bottled water from Costco." 🎟📽
Once, we liked Hollywood actors who owned their myth. Now a franchise owns it.

I very much agree that hollywood has devolved and lost all concept of originality. Tent poles especially have been reduced to looting our culture for focus group hits like some post-apocalypse scavenger digging through the wreckage of a house with a can opener. "OOOO, Peaches!"

When you do that there is only really one really important rule: Be true to the character you are using. You didn't create that character, it is NOT yours. You are just using it. Making it "yours" fails. Every time. When you urinate all over a character, you only succeed in boosting your own ego. At least until the fans then urinate on your fraken-character themselves. And they totally will.

Put them in whatever story you want. even recast them if you need to. The fans are all for that. If you loot a story too, you have more leeway. The religious fanatics will get pissed (they always do regardless of how faithful you are), but they are fringe, and the vast majority fans will forgive a retelling if it is done well. But if the character isn't faithful, you have lose every single person that loves that character. Which is all the value in looting it in the first place.

I don't care if it is Cumberbatch or Sir Mckellen or Bob the frikin plumber playing Magneto. Its frikin Magneto, and Magneto, when portrayed properly, will get my money, every time. Even when they butcher the Pheonix Sagas over the next couple years.
