The expert and technical working group meeting concluded
=========================================
As an essential prelude to the second #Ethio-Nigeria Joint Ministerial Committee meeting to be held on Wednesday (November 6), a working group of experts from #Ethiopia and #Nigeria met in #Abuja on Tuesday (November 5). The working group has reviewed existing cooperation platforms and explored ways of strengthening them further ahead, where subsequently, both parties have finalized the preparation of a draft cooperation of agreement.
The meeting was dubbed effective in terms exploring potentials of cooperation which would in turn have considerable impacts in broadening the ties between the two countries in different arrays of cooperation.

Saudi Arabia keen to scale up relations with Ethiopia

During a meeting with Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn over the weekend, the Special Envoy of the king of Saudi Arabia, Major General Ahmad Hassan Mohammad Asiri noted his country’s keenness to put the relations between the two countries to a high gear. The Special Envoy added his government wants to engage in modern agricultural development in Ethiopia.

Premier and Envoy discussed way to strengthen socio-economic and security cooperation between the two countries; where attracting more investment from Saudi to Ethiopia was a main topic of discussions.

Dr.workneh holds talks with Nigerian business tycoon Alhaji Aliko Dangote

Ahead of the official opening of the 2nd Ethio-Nigeria Joint Ministerial Commission, Foreign Minister Dr. workneh Gebeyehu held discussions with Alhaji Aliko Dangote, the founder and owner of the Nigerian multinational industrial conglomerate on Monday (November 4).
Mr. Aliko Dangote noted that the various developmental projects in Ethiopia make the country a beautiful bride to foreign investors. He underscored the need to support the private sector in Africa to witness a genuine and inclusive economic development across the continent.
Commending the renowned investor for his significant contribution to Ethiopia’s economic growth, Dr. workeneh assured Mr. Dangote of his government’s continued support to his giant cement plant back home.
The 2.5Mta Dangote Cement Plc in Ethiopia was commissioned in May 2015 with a capacity of producing high-quality 32.5 and 42.5-grade cements to meet market needs, and at competitive costs.

Dr. Workneh holds talks with UK Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson

"We would like UK to support South Sudan Revitalization Process and assist rally the International community behind the cause" Dr. Workneh Gebeyeh called on his UK counterpart Hon. Boris Johnson on their meeting on Wednesday (11/29/2017) at the margins of the AU-EU Summit in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire. The two sides had a fruitful discussion on the progress of South Sudan peace process, bilateral consular and multilateral cooperation issues.
On the occasion, Dr. Workneh noting IGAD Council of Ministers to have worked relentlessly to reach to the level of progress the South Sudan Revitalization Process has reached underscored the need to speak with one voice and the need for an increased support from the international community. Dr. Workneh in his remarks noted the Revitalization Process with the help of undivided attention of the leaders and ministers of IGAD countries has shown an encouraging progress, adding with its conclusion of Pre-Forum consultation in Côte d’Ivoire at the sidelines of the AU-EU Summit it now will hold its High-Level Revitalization Forum in the month of December 2017.
Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson on his part assured his counterpart the full support of his country to the IGAD Revitalization Process.
Meanwhile, Dr. Workneh has also met with his Sudanese, Croatian and Austrian counterparts on the Summit. Bilateral and multilateral matters of common interest were points of discussion.

The 5th AU-EU Summit opened
===============================
The 5th AU-EU Summit for the year of 2017 opened on Wednesday (11/29/207) in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire. The summit saw the attendance of Secretary-General of the United Nations, António Guterres, Moussa Faki Mahamat, Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Jean-Claude Juncker, President of the European Commission, Chairperson of the African Union, Alpha Conde, and Federica Mogherini, High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security. Heads of State and Governments from both Africa and Europe Including German Chancellor Angela Merkel, Ethiopian Prime Minister, Hailemariam Desalegn, French President Emannuel Macron, South African president Jacob Zuma, Spanish Prime Minister, Mariano Rajoy, Rwanda's Paul Kagame and Ghana's Nana Akufo-Addo among others attended the summit. The Summit will continue into its second day tomorrow.
Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn on the occasion has met with Italian Prime Minister, Paolo Gentiloni and Polish president, Andrzej Duda at the margins of the Summit. Discussion with his Italian counterpart focused on Bilateral diplomatic and technical cooperations. With regard to regional matter of common concern, the Revitalization of the South Sudan Peace Process was the main point of discussion where both have concurred the notion that speaking with undivided and similar voice and a collective support to the process to be the way forward in bringing lasting peace in South Sudan.
The Prime Minister also has conferred with the High Representative of European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security, Federica Mogherini. The two had a fruitful discussion on South Sudan Revitalization Process progress and both expressed their satisfaction on the level where the peace process has reached with its last pre-forum consultation meeting of IGAD Council of Ministers in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire towards the convening of the High-Level Revitalization Forum.

President Mulatu holds talks with South Korean business delegation

President Mulatu Teshome held talks with South Korean business delegation named INNOVATION-BUSSINESS (INNOBIZ) led by Mr. Kim Sang Jin, Chairman of INNOBIZ and Honorable Consul of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia in South Korea's province, Busan today (November 29).
Commending the government of South Korea for its significant contribution to the ongoing economic boom of his country, President Mulatu noted the role of INNOBIZ was also critical more than ever in further bolstering the business to business ties and people-to-people relations between the two sisterly countries. Dr. Mulatu has urged South Korean companies to explore the enormous investment opportunity Ethiopia owns and suggested the huge benefits the companies could garner if they make joint ventures with their Ethiopian counterparts. Dr. Mulatu noted that his government looks forward to see more companies from South Korea to engage in agro-processing, textile, apparel, renewable energy, information communication technologies, Biotech, Pharmaceuticals, and other sectors in the country.
It was noted that the signing of MOU between Ethiopian Chamber of Commerce and INNOBIZ is an important milestone in further scaling up private sector engagement. Mr. Kim Sang Jin, Chairman of INNOBIZ and Honorable Consul of Ethiopia to South Korea's province, Busan has noted that Ethiopia owns what it takes to be a hub of manufacturing; a trainable work force, attractive investment incentives and untapped natural resources.
The two sides have also underscored the need to further scale up their growing ties on technology transfer and capacity building on trade to fast track the ever growing ties.
