State Minister Hirut addresses a Seminar on the "Impact of Gulf Dynamic on the Horn of Africa"
===========================================

State Minister Mrs. Hirut Zemene addressed a one day seminar that deliberated on the "Impact of Gulf Dynamic on the Horn of Africa" on Thursday (August 30). The seminar was organized by Policy and Research Analysis Department of Foreign Affairs in collaboration with Institute for Security Studies (ISS).

In her keynote address State Minister Hirut congratulated the Department of Policy and Research Analysis and participants for organizing the timely topic, which she said, had strong impact on Ethiopia in particular and the region at large. Mrs. Hirut recalled that the Ethiopian Foreign Policy document attaches due attention to geopolitical and geostrategic importance of the Middle East and its immediate and direct impact on “our national security and state existence”.

She took note of the cultural, social and religious inter-linkages that Ethiopia shares with Middle East countries, which she noted, offered tremendous opportunity to “advance our mutual interests and chart our common destiny”. Mrs. Hirut further noted the fact that the Gulf Countries are engaging with the Horn of Africa in a range of areas including economic, security, trade and investment as well as humanitarian assistance.

On the occasion, presentations were made on “Roots of Divisions within Middle East including the crisis in Yemen and the “Impact of GCC crisis on the Horn of Africa region and Ethiopia in particular."
