This home made snare drum looks simply fantastic! http://ow.ly/NjhVB
For most, playing drums is about perfecting the skill of playing. In Tom Featherstone's case, he decided to learn how to build them.

This unique 3D printed sun dial shows the time in an interesting way. http://ow.ly/Njhvi
This digital sundial steps beyond just using a shadow on the ground to tell the time. Instead of just a line, this sundial displays numbers.

Kinda cool. For first year engineering. We had 500 sticks and a pot of glue. We had to design and make a bridge for the specified load points (off center) and hold 2kN.

Ours was not the best, but it held 2kN for full marks.
