⚓️ MYTH ⚓️ Waxing a Boat’s Bottom will Improve Performance.

During my offshore racing days, there were always guys in the pits pedaling their amazing speed-creating bottom wax. No one bought any. In fact, many racers have found that a rougher bottom is better for speed than a smooth one because the uneven surface lets in air to help break adhesion with the water. Sanding the bottom of a boat any direction other than front to back increases the speed. A process called “cross-hatching,” in which crisscrosses the sanding angle at 45 degrees using a long block or a two-by-four wrapped in sandpaper. http://www.lynnwoodmarina.com/boat-yard/

Awesome Ecoadventure! http://shearwater.ca/ At the Gateway to the Great Bear Rainforest where wildlife is abundant in this vast area of temperate rainforest. Bald eagles, Sitka deer and bears—grizzlies, black bears and the rare white Spirit Bear—are all found here. Spend days watching Humpback Whales, Orcas, steller Sea lions, Dall’s porpoises and harbour seals and enjoy the sounds and sights in one of the most untamed areas of British Columbia. The highlight is definitely the huge and hard-hitting Chinook Salmon, otherwise known as King Salmon, that are consistently in the Tyee class (over 30 pounds). A trip to Shearwater could be your salmon fishing trip of a lifetime. http://shearwater.ca

A Remarkable Journey, these waters often make for great whale watching. Look for Steller sea lions stretched out on the rocky islands that dot the channels. Take a walk with naturalists along a quiet forest trail or kayak in the tiny coves in this area. Hike and kayak among the Islands shore, where an abundance of the worlds rarest bear, sea wolves, stellar sea lions and sea otters reside. http://shearwater.ca #Travel #GreatBearForest #Ecotravel #Ecotourism #Canada
