The Worshipful the Madam Mayor of the Borough of Reading, Councillor Sarah Hacker, led a flag-lowering ceremony outside the Civic Centre offices on Bridge Street, Reading, at noon. This was followed by a minutes' silence for the Tunisia victims.

Plucky toddler Sam Jenkinson-Francis, 3, sadly succumbed to his 16-month battle with neuroblastoma, his heartbroken relatives disclosed today. Recent fundraising activities enabled Sam and his family to visit EuroDisney before his condition worsened.

Hordes of tennis fans descended on SW19 today as the first day of the Wimbledon Tennis Championships got underway at the All England Lawn Tennis Club. Queues stretched for three-quarters of a mile as eager fans clambered snap up the prime tickets.

A phenomenal effort today in Reading for an amazing children's hospice - Naomi House.

An abseiling event took place in Reading which saw fundraisers take on the 282ft 'Blade' building, raising over £10,000 for Naomi House Children's Hospice. Professional parkour runner and athlete Mike Wilson dressed as SpiderDad for his descent.

Yorkshire-born music legends The Kaiser Chiefs turned the heat up in London's Hyde Park as they took to the Great Oak Stage. In searing temperatures well into the 80's, Ricky Wilson led the band, and the fans, through a blistering set.

Reading's Girl Guides starred in the Chartered Standards Institute National Conference in Bournemouth today, where they scooped a national prize in their 'Create a Campaign' initiative. Members of the team attended Bournemouth to receive their prize.

Schoolchildren from Year 6 at Geoffrey Field Junior School galloped off to London to see a West End production of 'War Horse', courtesy of financial aid from the Wooden Spoon charity. Reading Buses provided the transportation for the children.
