3. Start your day with this real food smoothie

Continuing on the morning routine theme ...

You might choose incorporate this real food smoothie into your morning routine. 

But why I am saying “real food” smoothie? Is it just to be pretentious? Possibly :).

But also, I want to draw the distinction between “real food” - food that grows on trees and in the ground - versus pre-packaged smoothie powders and enhancers.

Or God forbid, the mystery syrup they put in smoothies at most shops (note: it’s not a mystery at all actually - it’s cocaine, I mean sugar).

Here’s a a recipe to get you started (this makes enough for 2 people). I prefer a Blendtec blender, but any high powered blender will do. If you don't have a high-powered blender (3HP), don't include the avocado seed! You think I am joking. I am not. 

Here's the recipe - Strawberry Smoothie Surprise:

• 2 cups of distilled water 
• 8 oz. organic strawberries
• 1 ear corn cut from non-GMO corn
• 1/2 avocado (if you have a Blendtec or Vitamix, include the seed)
• 2 fresh mint tops with stem
• 1 node fresh cilantro 
• 1 oz. goji berries 
• 1/4 small red beet
• 1/2 organic cucumber
• 1/2 fuji apple with seeds
• 1/2 lime with pith 
• 1” fresh ginger root
• 10 dried cordycep mushrooms

The variety of real food smoothies you can make is endless. Everyone has different tastes so I recommend you experiment for a week or two with a bunch of different options and lock in on one or two winners that become part of your regular rotation. 

Even if you are making the smoothie just for yourself, I recommend the above amount because you can put some in a jar and have mid-morning for another boost.

One of the best books for tons of high-energy real food smoothie recipes is Smoothie Formulas by Jeff Primack. A little more expensive than your average book, but I believe that I've more than gotten my money back out of this sucker.
