9 Home Inspection Tips For Buyers
Buying A Home? Get A Home Inspection!

Most home buyers will look for ways to reduce their costs when it comes time to purchase a home. Negotiating a better price on the home, haggling with moving companies and timing the purchase to coincide with the end of their lease are all ways to cut costs. However, waiving a home inspection is not a recommended way of lowering expenses.

A home inspection is important to cover the buyer. It shows the condition of the property at the time of purchase. Hopefully, the report will show that there are no structural repairs needed for the house. However, if the report shows major work that needs to be done, this can help the buyer make a major decision; ask for a lower price, or request the repairs to be done before purchase, or walk away from the deal.

Real estate agents and mortgage lenders all agree that a home inspection is always a good idea for a new purchase. It could either give the buyer peace of mind with the purchase or uncover a major problem that gets fixed before the transaction is closed.

10 DIY Home Maintenance Tips
Home maintenance tips to get your home in tip-top shape

Just like a quality vehicle or a healthy relationship, regular maintenance will keep things running smoothly for a long time. Putting together a maintenance schedule for a home can also help the home to last longer with few problems.

A house has a few things that require regular attention each month. Most people pick a date on the calendar, like the 2nd Saturday of each month, and tackle these simple projects all at one time.

Other items may only require attention either once a quarter or maybe once every 6 months. Since these maintenance issues are less frequent, it is good to have multiple reminders across a smartphone and a calendar to prevent you from forgetting these things.

Some of the tasks are a bit dirty. However, tackling all of these maintenance tasks throughout the year will help spot trouble before it turns in to a catastrophe and keeps the home in top shape all year long.
