A morning without coffee is like sleep.

Way too much coffee. But if it weren’t for the coffee, I’d have no identifiable personality whatsoever.
-David Letterman

Sleep is a symptom of caffeine deprivation.

Is it possible to get a cup of coffee-flavored coffee anymore in this country? What happened with coffee? Did I miss a meeting? They have every other flavor but coffee-flavored coffee. They have mochaccino, frappaccino, cappuccino, al pacino…Coffee doesn’t need a menu, it needs a cup.
-Denis Leary

I’ll quit coffee. It won’t be easy drinking my Bailey’s straight, but I’ll get used to it. It’ll still be the best part of waking up.

New sharing feature for Google Docs

New feature / Sharing photos

Hi, I'm +Matt Steiner, I lead the engineering team for Google+ Photos. Google+ Photos is a great way to share your favorite memories with your different circles. But sometimes you want to limit how your photos are shared. That's why today we're rolling out the ability to lock an album, which prevents others from resharing it.

You can lock an album from two places -- your Photos page, or album posts in the Stream -- and when you do a few things happen:

- Viewers won't be able to +mention new people
- Photo tags by viewers won’t expand who can see your album
- All of your posts about your album will also be locked

To lock an album from your Photos page:

1. Click Your albums
2. Click on the album
3. Click on who can currently view the album (e.g. Limited)
4. Check the Lock this album box
5. Click Save

Or from an album post in the Stream:

1. Find the post with the album you want to lock
2. Choose Lock this post from the drop-down menu located at the top right

In both cases the word “Locked” will appear, and that's it! We're always trying to make Google+ a safer and more comfortable place to share your photo memories. As always, please keep sending us your feedback. We're always listening and iterating!

Thanks to +Kedar Kanitkar and +Dom Carr for making this feature happen!

Tutorial: Google Translate for Google+

Since the release of our Chrome extension that enables Google Translate on Google+, I've been meaning to put together a quick tutorial showing how to install and use the extension.

I haven't had a chance, so instead I'll share this great short video +James Brooks put together demonstrating the feature. Thanks James!

The only things not covered in this demo video are:

Comment translation – The extension works just as well on comments too! Just hover the comment and you should see a 'Translate' link next to the +1 button.

Options – There are several configurable options in the extension options. You can change the background color shown behind translations, the target language to translate to, and whether to always add the 'Translate' links or to only add them when you click the extension link.

Enjoy! Keep your questions, comments, and feedback coming!

Chrome's user Tip
Google Tip | Search G+ Profiles Based On Your Interests

One of the glaring shortfalls of G+ is that you can only search for people by name and not based on areas or topics that you are interested in.

If you use the Chrome web browser this is not the case.

To search G+ profiles based on keywords (aka "your interests") do the following:

1. Open URL: chrome://settings/searchEngines
2. Add new entry with following values:
- Column 1: Google+ Profiles
- Column 2: profile
- Column 3: {google:baseURL}search?q=%s&tbs=prfl:e

That's it!

Now open a Chrome window and type "profile" (without the apostrophes) and then click the space bar. Then enter your search term and hit enter.

Everybody who's profile description contains your search term will show up.

What looks beneficial about this is that as you get further down in the results it seems to show people that have not posted anything. Therefore, concentrate on the results that are higher up.

Let me know if this works for you.

Shoutout to +Andrew Shotland who posted this way way back.

list of newly-launched features
Google+ is just over 9 weeks old so… here's a list of newly-launched features, and a random video of a 9 week-old bunny :-) As always, click "Send feedback" to tell us how we can improve!

- You can now organize your instant upload photos into new or existing albums (

- You can now +1 pages from your Android or iOS mobile web browser (

- Chrome users can now translate posts and comments written in other languages with the Google Translate extension (

- Chrome users can now +1 pages across the web with the +1 button extension (

This past week, team members also had the chance to "hangout in real life" with the Google+ community:

- Coast-to-coast photo walks in Venice Beach, UC Berkeley, Burning Man, and New York City (

- Meet and greet with the Mobile team at UC Berkeley (

p.s. Yes, I could have gone with 9 week-old puppies or kittens. But I'm a bunny guy:
