Posted by Iskander Akishev, Software Engineer, Google Calendar. The Google Calendar API allows you to create and modify events on Google Calendar. Starting today, you can use the API to also attach Google Drive files to Calendar events to make them—and your app—even more useful and integrated.

Hash Code is a team-based programming competition for students and professionals (18+) across Europe, the Middle East and Africa organized by Google. You pick your team and programming language, we pick a real-life engineering problem to solve. Are you up for the challenge?

This year’s competition is divided into two stages:

Online Qualification Round
11th February 2016, 18:30 - 22:30 CET
For this round, your team can participate from wherever you’d like, including one of our Hash Code hubs. Hubs allow for teams in the same location (eg. city or university) to compete side-by-side in a more fun and exciting environment.

Final Round
19th March 2016
Top scoring teams from the Online Qualification Round will be invited to Google Paris to compete in the Final Round of the competition.

Registration will open on 30th November 2015 at g.co/hashcode.

I know my Calendar friends will find this interesting - at a JS open day today, one of the presenters demonstrated JS (node.js) running on a microcomputer (Intel Edison, running Linux), using the Calendar API to display notifications to your next meeting on an LCD screen :)

Her full instructions are here: http://www.instructables.com/id/Make-an-intelligent-desk-clock-powered-by-the-Inte/
Why my clocks need to be more intelligent...I always set up reminders for my calendar meetings but when that little XYZ meeting starting in 15 minute...

Month view is coming (back) to Google Calendar for Android

In February, we made lots of improvements to the Google Calendar app for Android based on your feedback (http://goo.gl/uzzbDd). Over the next few days, we're happy to be adding more of the updates you’ve asked for:

● See even more events at a glance with Month view on phones.
● See the color of events when jumping to a date.
● Easily switch views now that they are listed in the navigation drawer.

You can download the app on Google Play: www.google.com/calendar/android

PS: We're working on bringing many improvements to the iPhone app as well. Thanks for the ongoing support and feedback.
