Dear Building Departments,. We like working with you, really we do. You protect the community, promote public safety, educate architects and homeowners, promote social benefit, and foster a healthy environment. That's a big job, and hitting all of those categories is challenging for any of us on ...

The average person might not agree or understand the intrinsic beauty of concrete, but I love it.

A wedding pavilion I designed for a friend in Portland OR.

We were asked to design a small pavilion to act as the wedding chapel for a friend's backyard ceremony. The structure was meant to have a life past the wedding as an outdoor living room and place for the family of musician to hang out and play.

The project was a huge success as the centerpiece of the wedding and currently as family gathering space.

Amazing photography by Ashley Frutiger

A designer, traveler, writer, artist, ultimate player, and co-owner of Propel Studio
Introduction
In my design work I explore the expression of natural light through forms derived from a rigorous study of materiality and structure. Seamlessly integrating my buildings into their surroundings, taking particular interest in the interaction with sun and wind patterns, drives my design process.

I am one of the co-owners of Propel Studio, an architecture firm based in Portland, Oregon. I also run the architecture blog www.talkitect.com
