Not entirely surprising but interesting to see it backed up with data.
In the first quarter of a scoreless 2016 AFC Championship game against the New England Patriots, Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos faced third-and-6 from their own 44-yard line. Wide receiver D…

I've got new editions of all of my Kindle books out. Upgrades are available to anyone who has already purchased them. Anyone who has not, keep your eyes on this G+ page next week. I'm planning to run a couple of free days on Amazon.

+Richard Gingras or anyone from #GoogleNews , how can stuff like this be showing up in my Google News results when people are suffering and dying? We are all hearing more and more about #fakenews and #propaganda, but this is shocking. How can we consider Google a reliable curator of news when this can be shown along side results from real news, regardless of what flavor of news a person typically consumes, be it Fox News, NPR, CNBC, or whatever?
Holiday season arrived early in Aleppo, the city almost entirely freed from its US-supported terrorist scourge. According to Russia’s reconciliation center, “(i)n the past 24 hours, the Syrian troo...

Washington Post to use AI and "robots" to produce data-centric stories and tweets from Rio Olympics.

Should free up journos for "more interesting and complex stories."

Always fun to put out a new list for back to school!

Back to school is almost here, and that means a list of my favorite graphing calculators.
Before you buy a graphing calculator, read what a high school math teacher says who has used all the popular graphing calculators available.

Introduction
Grew up in a small town south of Peoria, IL. Played in the University of Illinois Marching Illini while getting a bachelor's degree in mathematics and master's in mathematics education. I started teaching math right out of school, with some of my best experiences coming as the coach of the math team at Morton High School (finished with a 5 year streak at the top public school in Illinois and a state championship in 2012). I've also become an authority on the TI-Nspire graphing calculator and software. I've written a couple of Kindle books about it and have a blog that features lots of information about the Nspire.

After 13 years in the classroom, I've recently made the jump to the corporate world. I'm now working in a data science role at a Fortune 50 insurance company headquartered in the Midwest. I'm one of the first crop of students to complete the new Johns Hopkins Data Science Specialization on Coursera. My studies there focused on R. I'm looking forward to learning more about Python and Hadoop as I begin my work in industry.

Somewhere along the way, I also lucked into marrying the girls of my dreams, who although less captivated with mathematics and technology, has been willing to accommodate my interests. We have two wonderful little girls and attend Imago Dei Church in Peoria, IL, where I am a part of the leadership team.
