Keyword - #Food Poverty - Please help out this great food charity who grow organic food for food banks. If you could like and share them on Facebook or twitter it will really help their cause. #Communitygardening #Brighton https://www.facebook.com/Befriending.Nature/

Now's the time to get out there and start leaf collecting. Put them in a old bin liner with a few holes and leave them in a corner of your garden for a year when you will have some very good leaf mould to add to your seed comnpost mix!

Hi all i'm sending out information on this exciting new buisness idea from Cat Fletcher. She has started this crowdfunding campaign to build a permanent and creative CITY REUSE DEPOT in Brighton.
 http://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/city-reuse-depot/

If successful we she will buy 8 shipping containers which will be centrally located in Brighton, to provide:

*FREE drop off and collection point for local Freegle transactions (co-ordinating the handover of goods can be a barrier to successful and happy freegling)

*drop off point for anyone in the city with anything legal that they wish to pass on for reuse, repurposing or repair (furniture, building materials, personal items, electronics, household items, clothes etc)

*space for Brighton repair cafe https://brightonrepaircafe.wordpress.com/ along with other makers and design workshops.

*a scrap and materials store for artists, students, schools, builders, community organisations, festivals and creative projects.

*a library of things (so people can borrow a ladder, a drill, a TV, event equipment, tools etc)

*a central drop off point for donations destined for charities and other local reuse organisations.

*space to run community events and education programs encouraging and inspiring resourcefulness, reuse and redesign.

If you have ever been to one of Cat Fletcher's Freegle Open Days then you will know how much stuff she intercept from the waste stream and how wonderful it would be if this service was available all the time and run in a more effective way so more people could benefit and even more stuff could be diverted from going to waste.

The crowdfunder ends on June 30th it only takes a minute or two to pledge your support http://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/city-reuse-depot/ http://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/city-reuse-depot/

Some November jobs to get busy with!

Clear up fallen leaves - a good chance to compost them separately and make some leaf mould for future seed propagation!

Plant Tulip bulbs for a spring display

Prune roses to prevent wind-rock, heavily mulch grafted roses.

Cover Brassicas with netting if pigeons are eyeing them up!

Insulate tender plants from frost with fleece.

Stop winter moth damage to fruit trees using grease bands around the trunks

Plant out more bedding plants with winter-flowering Pansies and Violas. Primulas, Primroses and Polyanthus - ( spring flowering, will also flower intermittently during mild spells in winter)

Prepare your soil for next year ( mulch with compost, manure, leaf mould and let worms dig it in over winter form you!)

Goji berries in flower for the first time this year! it's getting quite late so I'll be excited to see what happens!
