A 2019 Social Security COLA increase of 2.8% was announced today.

The 2.8% increase for 2019 follows a 2% increase for 2018, and a .3% increase for 2017. There was no COLA adjustment in 2016.

I recently had two hearings with clients who were, in my estimation, disabled according to Social Security rules at the time of the hearing. Both clients had consultative examination (CE) reports in their Social Security file supporting their claims of disability. However, both cases were impacted by the claimants' medical histories and application dates.
