0 == -0 except if you have a 1's complement computer with distinct representations of each value..

Or floating point.  I actually saw -0.0 during a debugging session this week.

Err, what?!  4043 bytes of C, for an IBM PC Emulator?!  This is pretty incredible for the International Obfuscated C Code Contest.

Getting the code down to <= 4096 characters to meet the IOCCC rule 2 overall size limit required a good deal of effort (and appreciable risk of divorce), with obfuscation being a pretty unavoidable consequence in most places … for the rest, I use short circuit operators whenever possible, mix x[y] and y[x], don’t use any flow control keywords except for for, use K&R-style declarations to honor the C language’s rich cultural heritage (plus it saves a byte), and occasionally go overboard with nasty nested indexes to give things like this: –64[T=1[O=32[L=(X=*Y&7)&1,o=X/2&1,l]=0,t=(c=y)&7,a=c/8&7,Y]>>6,g=~-T?y:(n)y,d=BX=y,l]

See following post for the original image, full size.  Here's an annotated version.  Thanks to astrometry.net for plate solving and annotation of the image.

No clouds tonight!   Seeing is a little soft, but at least the sky isn't opaque.   Here's NGC 5985 (far right, face-on spiral galaxy), NGC 5982, NGC 5981 (left edge-on spiral).  This is a stack of 5 frames, 10 minutes each, unfiltered luminance.  There's a few more galaxies in here too; can you find them?   QSI 583wsg camera, A-P 305RHA.

Out in the observatory tonight; clear skies, no moon.  Happiness is a night with good seeing and an autoguider tuned right in.  Scale is roughly arc-seconds of error.   RIght now, taking 600 second long R,G,B series of images.

Introduction
Internet olde fart from back when you had to write your own IP stack to get on the net.   Looking for a new and hopefully interesting opportunity, maybe to help change the world again.

I've been a customer for more than 10 years, and even after moving out of the area to NJ and later to central PA, I still drop in to say hi to Marty and Bruce when I'm passing through. Company 7 is one of the few dealers for high-end equipment from Astro-Physics and they carry other quality brands as well. If these guys wouldn't use a product themselves, they wouldn't sell it to you. Unlike the mail order alternatives, company 7 tests the products they deliver to their customers and make it their problem to resolve any issues. Highly recommended for their competence, experience and dedication to customer service and support.
