Old Habits
They say "Old Habits Die Hard". Apparently, they aren't resuscitated any easier than they die. Today is Friday.  Notice anything missing?  See anything broken, like a promise? First chance out of the box and I blew it.  Friday 12:01am came and went and no "...

Haiku Friday
the music comes on, it fills me and sets my mood, again, I begin. I write to music, my inspiration and crutch, now you see me, Oz. Not very often do I write multi verse Haiku.  This peek behind the curtain needed it. Ndinombethe. Ubuntu.

So.  This is the plan.  Of sorts. I'm going to try to bring this blog back to life.  I realize the "day of the blog" is sunsetting, but I miss this and there is still some value in having a forum for expressing opinion, publishing Art in its many forms, and...
So. This is the plan. Of sorts. I'm going to try to bring this blog back to life. I realize the "day of the blog" is sunsetting, but I miss this and there is still some value in having a forum for expressing opinion, publishing Art in its many forms, and just having fun with words.

Haiku Friday
anyone notice John Kerry looks like Oddo? Or is it just me? For those who are NOT Star Trek:Deep Space Nine fans, Oddo was a character on the show - an alien (a changeling, actually) with very odd human-like features.  Ndinombethe.  Ubuntu.

Waste?
Things I like to think about. There's this asteroid called Bennu, and there's a one in two thousand chance it's going to impact Earth.  Based on those odds, NASA has launched (on my birthday, which is cool) a probe to study the asteroid so as to determine i...

A close call, to be sure.  I am glad, however, you have resisted the romance of drugs.
I almost died once. It would have been a stupid death, had it actually happened. I inhaled some mold spores while renovating my house. My epiglottis began to swell and it became difficult to breathe and swallow. At the hospit...

Thank you, Lou, for your comment. I, too, am extremely happy not to have begun a lifelong affair with that mistress, morphine. I am sure my life would have turned out very different than it has had I not resisted her seductive charms. :)

Story
Tagline
Writer, Blogger, Photographer, Painter, all around Raconteur and Dirty Old Man of the First Order.
Introduction
Married for almost 36 years, three sons (and one daughter-in-law), and no grandkids, yet. Nor great-grandkids for my 85 year old mother - affectionately known to the entire free world as Grannie. My wife is the love of my life - without her I would have nothing. I do computers for a living and I love what I do. My only wish is that they would have known as much about ADD when I was a kid as they do now. I have recently taken up Art - at first, to strengthen my work as a photographer - but now, because I've discovered I love it. I paint as much as I can. The more I paint, the more I WANT to paint. But I try to sketch something every day. Because good drawing is important to good art.

I have purchased parts for my Chinese (Jonway YY250T) scooter at Absolutely Scooters and have always found Dave to be knowledgeable and ready to help. Do I wish he had better hours? Sure. Only because I'm sure his current Business Hours structure costs him customers, and I do truly want to see him succeed in his business. Do I wish he had a larger and fancier store? Sure. Only because the appearance of success oftentimes helps to breed success. Is the lack of comprehensive hours or a fancy location going to keep me away? Not on your life.

My wife and I were lucky enough to be visiting friends on a weekend when Waterfire was being held. It was an amazing experience - visually stunning and aurally impressive. The Music and the Performance Art were moving, mesmerizing, just amazing. I'd never heard of Waterfire before - but I'll never forget what I saw, heard and felt. And if I can get back to Providence again, I pray the Waterfire will be on the agenda.
