+Chris Crum has a way of peppering in valuable perspective to others' comments. This is quite amusing. I doubt SEO is going anywhere, but, instead, will evolve from a tactic to 'game' the system, into more of a best practices web-engineering to help companies understand the RIGHT way to build a site and develop content: with the user in mind.

It's certainly no surprise that there are credibility and quality issues on the web. I am interested to see what the outcome of this conference is...
Sometimes I review academic papers about spam. I'm looking forward to reviewing submissions to the WebQuality workshop: http://www.dl.kuis.kyoto-u.ac.jp/webquality2012/ which is part of WWW 2012: http://www2012.wwwconference.org/ .

This year the workshop goes by the name "The Anti-Social Web", emphasizing spam/quality issues around social content and networks. Authors, submit your papers by February 14. The workshop will be on April 16 in Lyon, France.
