How To Use +Buffer For Social Media Management

+Mike Allton shares with us a guide to using one of the best smm tools available for scheduling content to your social networks!

Bonus: Now includes Pinterest!

The Entrepreneur's Guide to Using Buffer for Social Media Management

These days, businesses who fail to leverage the power of social media, particularly entrepreneurs who are pushing with all their might to find momentum for their startup, are missing a golden opportunity.

It’s far too easy to think that you’ll have time to create a presence on social media later, or that you can just focus on Facebook and ignore the other platforms.

That’s “leaving money on the table” as the saying goes, since you never know what opportunities might exist for you on LinkedIn or Twitter or even Google+, until you try.

That’s why it’s critical for entrepreneurs that they find and use a tool and system for managing that social media presence. While it’s nice to say you should have a presence and develop a following on all of the major platforms, it’s quite another thing to actually implement that.

A great social media management tool, like +Buffer, can make some of the necessary, more routine, tasks of social media activity easier and less time consuming.

Like any tool, Buffer will take a little time to learn in order to adapt it to your business needs, but it’s worth it. Fortunately, we’re going to cover everything you need to know in order to use Buffer to manage your entire social media presence.

Ready?

Ok. Take a deep breath, and let’s get to work.

Improve your Twitter Marketing With These 7 Simple Tips
My favorite is #1 - How to Find the Right Search Results.

I am asked about this frequently and this article does a great job of explaining it.

"Most users think that if they type several keywords in the search box, Twitter will search for any tweets that contain any of those terms. Unfortunately, that’s not how it works. Twitter only searches for tweets that contain ALL of those search terms, as if there is an invisible and inserted between your keywords."

"To avoid this, you can use the or search operator. The or search operator tells Twitter you want to search for one term or another. For example, you can type in “PR manager” or “PR jobs” or “public relations jobs” and Twitter will search for tweets that contain any of those terms (or phrases in this case), rather than trying to find tweets that contain all of them."

"Just a quick note: When you want to search for a phrase vs. a keyword, put the phrase in quotes (see above). Single keywords don’t need the quotes."

How to Build Relationships With Other Bloggers in Your Niche
Just like building relationships with your readers is the cornerstone of social media, bloggers need to establish friends with other bloggers. Why?

Support, interaction, and inspiration!

+Pauline Cabrera from +TwelveSkip asked myself, along with 16 other friendly bloggers to share our tips on how to build relationships with fellow bloggers.

My contribution:
Introduce Yourself and Interact
My number one tip for building relationships with other bloggers is to make the first move and connect! You can’t build a relationship with anyone without first making a connection. Whether that connection be in person or on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google Plus or any other social platform.

When I say connect, I mean to interact with their content, show them you want to be part of a support network of sharing content, get to know them, compare interests. Bloggers, by our very nature, want to interact with not just our readers, but our peers, on a personal level! Let me begin by talking about where you can find other bloggers in your niche.

Groups and Communities – Google Plus and Facebook are prime landing zones for other bloggers. Perform a search for groups in your niche, sift through the results, and ask to join ones where you see activity on the posts. Once you’ve joined a group or community, INTRODUCE yourself! How are the members of the community going to know you are there without a proper hello?

Comments on Blogs – Visit your favorite bloggers content and scroll down to the comment section. While there will be comments from general readers, you may also find other bloggers who are interested in the same as you…connecting with other bloggers! Read what the others have to say and provide a comment of your own. This is a great way to start a dialogue and to further connect with peers.

Ask Bloggers You’re Already Connected To – Just like a call to action leads to better results, so does asking for what you want. Even if you are only connected to one other blogger (hey, everyone has to start somewhere), ask them who they are connected to. Ask them who their favorites are. What’s better than a recommendation from someone you trust?

Once you’ve found the spots where other bloggers are in your niche, the next step is to put yourself out there and interact! You know the phrase, “do unto others as you would have them do unto you?” Well, you’ve got to interact with other bloggers the way you want them to interact with you! It has to be a give a take relationship.

Further build on these new relationships by connecting with them on their other social networks. Like and engage on their Facebook Page, circle them on G+ and interact with their posts, follow them on Twitter, even connect on LinkedIn to be able to endorse them for their skills.
In short, reach out, say hi, and get to know them by interacting, be supportive and full of positivity!

Everyone provided awesome tips that will help you be successful in making new blogging friends in your niche! Take a look!

Social Media Active Users per Month
Facebook still holds the first place spot, gaining an impressive 50 million over the last month!

With Google Plus in the third place spot just after YouTube and ahead of Twitter, it continues to shock me that so many people are anti-G+!

Thanks for the update +Mike Allton!

Social Media Active Users UPDATED!

A couple of interesting updates from the previous 30 days.

First, Facebook continues to grow and dominate the social landscape, now up to 1.44 Billion monthly active users... an increase of about 50 million over the past month.

Second, Twitter continues to grow as well, reporting an increase of 12 million users over the same timeframe, bringing them to 302 million monthly active users, and once again claiming the #4 spot from Instagram.

There've been no other updates from the other social networks.

For the full breakdown: http://www.thesocialmediahat.com/active-users
