For the first time, scientists have detected small amounts of radioactivity in seawater along the shores of British Columbia that can be traced back to the 2011 Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant disaster. But the levels are so low they are likely of little concern.

The revolutionary social network is losing its hype – quickly and could die in a couple of years. Its growth (and fading) has been compared to a disease by scientists. Using a mathematical model, they charted Facebook’s demise.

Love this rebuttal by Facebook, using the same methodology Princeton will have no students enrolled by 2021 :)

Since I'm a developer, often.  =b  But that might also be true of people.

Anyhow, it's still a best guess.  A cookie is way more definitive.  Certainly still useful in many cases (e.g. so what if 5% of targetted ads hit the wrong person).

Interesting if outdated article. Yes, I have dealt with these kinds of architects before but the authors assumption that the only target for an architecture are developers is a bit naive. For IT projects that have moved beyond their initial stages, and for bridging the gap between development/implementation/maintenance teams and the business, you will end up needing an architect (business/solution/application/infrastructure etc.). I will agree that the number of frameworks that keep getting pushed out can get silly but if they didn't we'd probably all still be writing cobol :)

Check it out!  You can calculate what money was worth in the "old" days!

(Our American cousins can check out http://data.bls.gov/cgi-bin/cpicalc.pl)
The Bank of Canada is the nation's central bank. We are not a commercial bank and do not offer banking services to the public. Rather, we have responsibilities for Canada's monetary policy, bank notes, financial system, and funds management. Our principal role, as defined in the Bank of Canada Act, is "to promote the economic and financial welfare of Canada."

I wonder if the Canadian inflation rate includes hedonic adjustment? If so, it would be even worse!
