Irma is turning to the West so we are in a direct line for the storm. Predictions are 70 to 90 mile an hour winds here in Albany Georgia. This morning my wife said we should prepare to evacuate. So the first thing that I decided to do was to put all my bikes on my truck.

I think I finally got the right kickstand on my commuter bike. I really want to thank this community for helping me figure this out.

Kickstand version 2.0. Sometimes I have to really justify why I always buy the top-of-the-line most expensive thing when I'm buying something at amazon.com. My first kickstand was the cheapies. This one cost twice as much as the first one that I bought but I think it will work. I'm going to install it later today

I bought a kick stand on Amazon. The pictures show my old kiskstand on the right and the new on on the left. I did a test fit this morning before my commute and it did not work. The throat of the replacement kickstand did not clear my wide 26 x 2.125 tires. I will have to try another one and pay closer attention to measurements in the description.

The more technology that I use my brain tends to get lazy. At least I could find my large hex keys in my messy shop.

BTW, I sweated more in my humid garage at 6 AM working on my bike than I did on my 5 mile commute from 7-7:30AM.

Late Summer Evening Ride

I want to put a set of high PSI 26 inch tires on my commuter. Which tire and inner tubes do you all recommend?

I have been silent in this community for a bit, but I have been been diligent in my pursuit to ride my bike everyday. So here is my insight from my morning commute. It is so basic that it makes me laugh.

I have been riding my Trek Pure for about a month with low air pressure in my tires. The max PSI is about 30 PSI and I aired them up this morning as they were about 15 PSI. Wow what a difference as I was riding above 10 MPH with little effort.

The real back story to this is not that I discovered anything new about bicycling mechanics, what I did discover about myself is that I knew about the low tire pressure, and for a month I did not care about it. At this point in my commuting life I am very care free.

A few days ago I saw a bike commuter on a road bike who passed me. I caught up with him at a light and I noticed how tense he was as we waited for the green light. As I watched him fidget at the light waiting to ride as fast as he could go to get home I saw myself doing the same thing on my road bike when I commute on it. I may not always be this relaxed on a commute, but for now I am still enjoying the slow pace of riding my cruiser.
