Climate change is having a dramatic effect on the lives of British butterflies, causing them to emerge earlier, change in size and appear in new habitats. Now Museum researchers Steve Brooks and Dr Angela Self are using our digitised collections to track changes in native butterfly species over the last 140 years.

This data is now online for the first time thanks to the Museum's iCollections project, allowing researchers to access 180,000 butterfly specimens on their desktops.

Find out more about the project and how British butterflies are helping to unlock the secrets of global climate change here: http://bit.ly/NHM_Butterflies-Unlock-Climate-Secrets
