Stopped by to check things out - was planning a weekend away with the better half so was interested in the spa, gym, hotel and all that. Met the owner as I was walking around, he asked me what I was doing there and I told him why I was there he started getting all cocky and almost abusive like, as if I was wasting his precious time somehow?? then he asked me if I'd taken out a golf membership yet??? As I was walking out I overheard him shouting really loudly at a member of staff - wow, that's unprofessional. Needless to say I won't be staying at london beach or even using any of their facilities: london beach doesn't offer anything special and I'm not impressed with either the prices or the creepy angry owner.

This is very strange - I understand that you are very upset, but you only have to look on Trip Advisor to see that the majority of our visitors are very pleased with our Spa Days. I don't know who you met but it is disappointing that you were given such a bad impression. If you call the Spa (01580 767611) we would be glad to show you round so that you can see how beautiful it is. Hoping to see you, Lorana Edmonds

I'm with Geoff! I don't understand the bad reviews for the amazing service I received. The spa is wonderfully relaxing and the rooms are huge and spacious. That said - my biggest praise goes to the chef and kitchen/wait staff who bent over backwards to consider my dietary requirements (I'm the nightmare dinner guest - dairy and gluten free!) and made my stay memorable for all the right reasons. Highly recommend a visit!

Overall, I was disappointed with the Spa Day experience. For 85.00, it is vastly overpriced and comprised of the use of the pool and other spa facilities but only inlcuded one 20 minute treatment. I chose the back massage which was very nice even though 30 minutes would have been a fairer deal, followed by a two course lunch. My friend and I chose the ham and spinach soup which was immensely salty, so we could only manage half of it. The granary baguette accompanying it was good though. The main course of chicken caesur salad was the worst I have ever had. Both of us could not manage more than a third. It was saturated in a creamy dressing and looked like a mushed up pile on our plate with a couple of undressed leaves. It was overwhelming. We did eat the poached egg that was served on top, which was cooked to perfection. Given that the 2 course lunch is advertised for 12.50 if you visit just for lunch, a 20 minute massage and use of the spa facilities does not warrant the additional 72.50 purchase price, making it up to 85.00. There are much better deals at locations such as the Eastwell Manor. We had a better spa experience at the Hythe Imperial Hotel for just 49.00. On this experience, we wouldn't return to the London Beach Hotel and Spa and unfortuntely, neither would we recommend it.

Thank you for your feedback - I am disappointed that you were not happy with your Spa Day. I will follow up on your comments on the lunch - we have a very good reputation for excellent food. I hope you at least enjoyed the saline waters of the pool and hydrotherapy pool as I know many other Spas have chlorine pools which are not as healthy or enjoyable. I am pleased that you enjoyed the back massage - our Spa Therapy department is exceptional. We do sometimes have some very good Spa Break deals that definitely compete favourably with other establishments in Kent. If you feel like giving us another chance do visit our spa offers on our website - we would like to change your mind. regards Lorana Edmonds

I can only assume that the London Beach Hotel and Spa don't actually want any members. It is prohibitively expensive (£80 per month), which doesn't even include classes, hence it is always dead, I am often the only person in there which results in a rather sad atmosphere, and the staff are at best snooty and at worst indifferent. I regret joining up and when I asked if I could stop their position was intransigent. They really do need to wake up to the fact that being "exclusive" doesn't mean unfriendly or having staff who seem to think they are above their guests.

Don't understand the reviews I've read here. Had a great weekend here earlier this year and met the owner who seemed to me to be a ferfect gent. Staff and facilities were excellent. Happy to return and have recommended to friends.

Played here with a friend who is new to golf & he took 3 putts on the last hole, the owner accused him of messing around then shouted abuse at us in the bar, staff informed us that he previously thrown chairs in a rage before. I've played golf for over 20yrs & have never had such a bad experience
