Composer John Adams has long found inspiration in violinist Leila Josefowicz, so it was wonderful to be able to talk to them both together about John's violin concerto for Leila Scheherazde.2. Coming to the Barbican Hall with the LSO on 8 December! http://bit.ly/2fyKlHb

A short excerpt of an exclusive interview with John Williams. The interview was recorded in Los Angeles for our 'Best of John Williams' concert on 26 November 2016 at the Barbican Centre (sold out!), in which John will introduce each piece in the concert on screen.

The essential tour of the Ligeti Le grand macabre percussion section, which includes pretty much anything that can be hit, rung or smashed. Principal Percussion Neil Percy shows us around.

Thrilled that Jonathan Dove's community opera The Monster in the Maze won the British Composer Awards Amateur and Young Performer category at the BASCA awards ceremony last night.

A joint commission between the LSO, Festival d'Aix-en-Provence and the Berliner Philharmoniker, the opera was written for the professionals and local amateur singers and musicians from each city to perform together. Congratulations Jonathan and everyone involved in the creation and production of this work.

Here's a short documentary.

One of the world's top symphony orchestras, based at the Barbican Centre in London and the world
Introduction
The London Symphony Orchestra is one of the world’s top orchestras. Our home is at the Barbican in the City of London, where we perform over 80 concerts every year, and at LSO St Luke’s, a converted 18th-century church just up the road which is the base for our LSO Discovery community and education programme. We also run a record label, LSO Live. Each year we tour to several different countries, and return to some regularly where we have residencies.
