Beautiful place. The wood work that mimics the Gamble House is perfectly executed and fully furnished with original Stickley furniture. The two mile hike down to the Pacific is moderately easy and totally gorgeous. I think they just need a better path to get to the trailhead.

I was excited to find out that I would be attending a meeting at the lodge and was really looking forward to golfing the famous South course. The lodge and golf didn't dissapoint. Great meeting venue and the golf was spectacular. A word of caution though to those looking at having meetings or group outings here. Upon checking in I noticed I was booked for one night too many. Simple fix right? The front desk was very pleasant to deal with and told me that wouldn't be a problem. Upon checking out I was only billed for the nights I stayed and was again told no problem, but that a supervisor would call me back and let me know the bill was fine. As I was on my way to the airport I recieved a call from a supervisor informing me I was responsible for the additional night as it was written into the meeting contract. I explained that this was not my fault and that an error had been made by those booking the meeting. They insisted this wasn't thier problem and that I would have to pay for the extra night. I was led to believe on multiple occasions that I would not be charged for the extra night and this is what I got. I never expected this from a 5 Star resort and everyone needs to know there is zero flexibility in dealing with the management staff. I hope the folks at Pebble Beach treat us fairly as we will not be returning to this venue again.

Dear Mr. Van Horn, It is with pleasure that I read you enjoyed your recent group program at The Lodge at Torrey Pines. However, I am disappointed that there was some level of confusion with regard to your billing between the group engager, yourself, and the hotel. I would be happy to speak with you about this directly should you like to contact me at the Lodge. Thank you for your comments. I look forward to speaking with you at your convenience. Warm regards, Dan Fullen General Manager

It's a nice location and the rooms are well-done, but there's not enough space at the resort for the number of people staying there. The pool and hot tub area were packed all day and there were lots of loud children running around. The food at the restaurant was pretty good, but definitely not anything memorable (which is disappointing for the price). There were some very friendly and helpful staff members, but some of them were really not up to par for a high end resort. For the experience they provide, I'd only return if it were about $200-$250 per night.

The lady I spoke with was really nice. Don't know who put $34 a night $270 even with a military discount.
