Managing over 100k business listings has created some pretty odd usernames.  Generally the login username is the businesses phone number or based upon their business name, but sometimes that isn't available, so something else is automatically assigned.  This can lead to some pretty non-intuitive, non-memorable usernames.

Did you know that you can change a clients username?  By sending a request * Member with a message like change username to samIam to make a modification.  It will get done automatically by the system and the business will be able to immediately login with the new username.

Impressive to see this local business advertisement on YouTube from +The Roofing Center.  See the video here: Discount roofing material

While the video is greatly authentic, I was equally impressed to see the well designed website eroofs.org, social activity https://twitter.com/sanvalle and even their own mobile app (iOS and Android!) but they do need some online help:

Here's the #OnlineBusinessReview consulting-

1) Business listing syndication.  The listing (i.e. Google+ Local Business Listing) should be reclaimed and updated.  It also contains outdated information (the website URL http://eliteroofsupply.com is redirecting to a different domain).

2) YouTube Video Optimization
This video is authentic and gets a good message across; that might be adequate.  But this is costing money.  A YouTube ^paid ad^ should have a few bells and whistles like:
  intro / ending graphic
  overlay with their business logo
streaming text in footer for their tagline or primary search phrase, name address phone #NAP , and the website URL.

3) Reviews - In addition to the Google listing being unclaimed, it is a ghosttown - there are 0 Reviews for the business.  Reputation Wave to get 5-10 customer ratings would highlight their business listing in Google.

4) Highlighting their Google search results.  Since their Twitter is being updated regularly, we could establish automatic re-posting of that material on their Google+ Page.

Hopefully this advice makes it to them +Abe Lopez.  Next time we can address at onsite conversions optimization and #SEO .  If there is any question, post it in the comments below.

Open Internet means that ISPs can't block traffic (e.g. VOIP, Skype...) a gray area is if they can prefer/prioritize traffic e.g. faster for services they monetize.

What would you do if you walked into your office and found 700 balloons packed wall to wall? Well that's exactly what was waiting for our Director of Product Operations, Debra Northart, on her birthday this morning! #HappyBirthday  Debra!

Many of us arrogantly consider the YellowPages book to be a relic of the past, however this year that could be considered a reality.   The YellowPages print giant  +YP ( +YP Advertising ) reports that it's revenues in digital are finally surpassing that of print advertising.

Taken from their article http://url.localsplash.com/IYPGrowth --
The company formerly known as Yellow Pages has worked hard in recent years to transfer its historical strength – helping consumers find local businesses via large printed books – into a business that’s now booking more than $1 billion in digital revenue.

“Five years ago, 18% of our revenue was digital, and in 2014 it was 44%. Next year it will be over half,” YP Chief Revenue Officer David Lebow said.

“Print is very much in a managed decline,” Lebow said. “Fewer people use the print book, and revenue follows audience. When you have 80 million users a month, ad dollars are going to follow.”

When people search [on YP], 77% of people who search go and contact an advertiser right afterward, and 66% make a purchase after search.

Web presence is actually a hard thing for people to do: a mobile-optimized website, video of their store or location, having up-to-date phone numbers and store hours.

A great video and YouTube channel banner art (cover photo). Notice how the graphic displays well in mobile, desktop and tablet. This can be accomplished by providing optimized media that will resize & crop intelligently so that it didn't appear distorted or stretched.

Kudos to +Rick Kuck  #digitalmedia

I wish I could do 4.5 stars. 5 is too much but 4 is too little. My wife and I opened up our Mexican restaurant about 7 months ago. We were called by a polite young man named Qassim. He explained exactly what they could do for us. Sounded too good to be true. I was then transferred to Israel Vargas who went over pricing and options. He was kind and extremely informative. I saw all the negative reviews after signing up and was very nervous. I will tell you right now Israel took great care of us and we were on the first page of Google (cell phones too) in about 9 weeks. Trust me I was checking. Also they built me a beautiful website to attract people. Business is great and we remain on the first page for multiple keywords. Thanks Israel!!! Would have given you 5 stars but you're a Dodger fan! Seriously thanks guys.

SAVE YOUR MONEY!!! I wish I had read the reviews on this company before signing up wth them. The short of the long, is the YOU can get your business listing on the first page of Google and BING for FREE, all on your own. Do your own research on how to do this, put the energy into it and you will get faster results then LS gives you and it cost NOTHING but your time. They are really good at selling their product and make it sound like it can't be don't without them. The sales rep told me that it would only take a fews days to get me on the first page and I would easily have X amount of new clients in the first month, making the expense worth it and then some. She did the typical sales pitch of "this offer is only good for this moment in time" BS. I should have hung up on her right then. Then after I took the sucker bait, I eventually went to their web page and spoke with customer service and was told "oh, no, it often takes up to 6 weeks to get on the first page". In your research on how to do this on your own, you will learn that 6 weeks for this to happen, especially when you are paying a company $200 a month to do it, is absurd.

This company created my Google Business page and made themselves the owner of the page. Now that I have discontinued using them, I cannot get them to give the ownership to me! Not only that, my page got suspended for Spam because evidently, they were sending out spam using the email address that they listed as the owner of my page. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY! YOU WILL ONLY GET A LOT OF DOUBLE TALK FROM THEM AND NO RESULTS! I WOULD GIVE THEM ZERO STARS FOR A RATING IF I COULD!

STOP! Do not sign up with splash. They sold me like so many others. I read the reviews. I gave them the benefit of the doubt. They failed miserably. The closest they ever got me was on the 2nd page 6th down after 4 months. They will lie lie lie! Not kidding, this is a complete scam. No refunds no nothing. No credit for bad producing add. They say they guarantee but after you sign up it completely different. Then they will tell you there is no guarantee. However they sell the guarantee. Extremely poor landing page set up. Very poor grammar and completely misspelled business name. Very bad all around. I smell class action big time! RUN RUN RUN

Local Splash called when my DJ business was not doing too well. They helped me setup a website and Google plus page and they also helped me get on alot of directories. This has gotten me alot more Dj gigs so it basically pays for itself. If your interested in getting your business name in the face of people searching for your services, it is not a bad idea to pay for a couple months and work on getting the most exposure on the internet as you can.

Got a call from salesman name Chris and I denied the offer so he got nasty with me on the phone. I told him not to call again so he starts laughing. And talking bad about my ads and how I manage my ads. Not a professional company at all. By what I see by others this is a scam. Do not use them... Thanks for reading

Hi Mike, I'm sorry to hear this experience. Can you please directly provide us the phone number we spoke to you on so that it can be reviewed for quality control purposes.

Terrible company, absolutely do not waste your money with them. They made significant promises, which they did not keep. We contacted them several times to complain and the point of contact (who promised to be available whenever we needed to speak) never contacted us back. Instead, we were transferred to customer service. Their customer service department was rude and condescending. They promised that if we were not satisfied, we could receive a refund but then refused to provide one. Our online presence did not change at all. Save your money.

This company lied and essentially took hundreds of dollars from me. Customer service was deplorable and they made me add search phrases. I struggled to add more search phrases. Then they used the least searched phrase and one I didn't even want added to tell me that I ended up on first page. I never saw my name in top 3 like they said. But they said the fine print just says first page. Whatever. I feel raped and violated by them.
