Managing over 100k business listings has created some pretty odd usernames.  Generally the login username is the businesses phone number or based upon their business name, but sometimes that isn't available, so something else is automatically assigned.  This can lead to some pretty non-intuitive, non-memorable usernames.

Did you know that you can change a clients username?  By sending a request * Member with a message like change username to samIam to make a modification.  It will get done automatically by the system and the business will be able to immediately login with the new username.

Impressive to see this local business advertisement on YouTube from +The Roofing Center.  See the video here: Discount roofing material

While the video is greatly authentic, I was equally impressed to see the well designed website eroofs.org, social activity https://twitter.com/sanvalle and even their own mobile app (iOS and Android!) but they do need some online help:

Here's the #OnlineBusinessReview consulting-

1) Business listing syndication.  The listing (i.e. Google+ Local Business Listing) should be reclaimed and updated.  It also contains outdated information (the website URL http://eliteroofsupply.com is redirecting to a different domain).

2) YouTube Video Optimization
  This video is authentic and gets a good message across; that might be adequate.  But this is costing money.  A YouTube ^paid ad^ should have a few bells and whistles like: 
  intro / ending graphic
  overlay with their business logo
  streaming text in footer for their tagline or primary search phrase, name address phone #NAP , and the website URL.

3) Reviews - In addition to the Google listing being unclaimed, it is a ghosttown - there are 0 Reviews for the business.  Reputation Wave to get 5-10 customer ratings would highlight their business listing in Google. 

4) Highlighting their Google search results.  Since their Twitter is being updated regularly, we could establish automatic re-posting of that material on their Google+ Page.

Hopefully this advice makes it to them +Abe Lopez.  Next time we can address at onsite conversions optimization and #SEO .  If there is any question, post it in the comments below.

Many of us arrogantly consider the YellowPages book to be a relic of the past, however this year that could be considered a reality.   The YellowPages print giant  +YP ( +YP Advertising ) reports that it's revenues in digital are finally surpassing that of print advertising.

The company formerly known as Yellow Pages has worked hard in recent years to transfer its historical strength – helping consumers find local businesses via large printed books – into a business that’s now booking more than $1 billion in digital revenue.

“Five years ago, 18% of our revenue was digital, and in 2014 it was 44%. Next year it will be over half,” YP Chief Revenue Officer David Lebow said.

“Print is very much in a managed decline,” Lebow said. “Fewer people use the print book, and revenue follows audience. When you have 80 million users a month, ad dollars are going to follow.”

When people search [on YP], 77% of people who search go and contact an advertiser right afterward, and 66% make a purchase after search.

Web presence is actually a hard thing for people to do: a mobile-optimized website, video of their store or location, having up-to-date phone numbers and store hours.

A great video and YouTube channel banner art (cover photo). Notice how the graphic displays well in mobile, desktop and tablet. This can be accomplished by providing optimized media that will resize & crop intelligently so that it didn't appear distorted or stretched.

Decent job at representing my business online at a reasonable price. Received 2 new customers from the internet within 3 months of getting their web marketing service. Not sure what will happen now since I cancelled, but it's my decision. Customer service is different each time you call, depends on who you talk to, but they are all professional and reasonable.

I have had loco splash for over a year now they cant get me to the front page even in one search engin. Yes I know I spelled Local wrong Just like they Spelled my name wrong and it is still on the internet and they cant seem to fix it even though they claim to be partners with Google. Local Splash has been doing SEO for my business and has hurt my search engine rankings more then helping them. They had the wrong states listed with the cities. They were local cities in my area but with the wrong states. I'm sure it confused Google and the other search engines like Bing and Yahoo. I asked for a refund and they wouldn't give it to me. All they would do is give the following month for free. I'm not happy that my rankings dropped and on top of it they charged me.

As I cancelled my account with LOCAL Splash, their last words to me were "We fulfilled our promise." They promised that I would see my business listed when I search 'Wedding Videographer Photographer". Truth is when I do that search, I am nowhere to be seen. What they delivered is this: I am top of the list only when I search "Wedding videographer (name of my neighborhood)". Now first of all thats not what was promised. Second, who in the world (when they are getting married) would search for a wedding videographer specific to their freaking neighborhood. Yes, some may search specific to their borough or city, but not their neighborhood. Imagine I lived in Plandome (sorry, nothing against anyone who lives there). Today when I ask them, what about when I search for 'Wedding videographer photographer" as I was promised, they say, "IT IS IMPOSSIBLE". Yes, they said it was impossible. I have a recording of this conversation to prove it. To me, their biggest lie is that they want to help me, and they would work with me, suggest better key words to help my business become visible. Zilch.

This company is a rip-off! They call you and tell you that you'll be listed first on google, google maps, and several other places. Give google a call and they will tell you no one can guarantee placement. Their customer service is terrible. Don't waste your time and money! Run!!!

They fell way short of providing the service that was sold to my company. Once a month for the past four months I have tried to take advantage of their guarantee before canceling my service with them last month. Now when I think that this over I get scammed for another $200. What a waste of time and energy. This company is a joke!!!

I would like to advice small business out there stay away from local splash,my emails didn,t work on the website for almost a month still not working until today where clients should try to book a service from business. Every time i call its a different stories ,oh the website developer not in the office today,or we have a new one or told him .over and aver again making excuses. I won,t why local splash have only a 2.5 reviews rating. Please stay away from them ,incompetents,inconsistents, all they care about its your money you work so hard for.

After almost a year I am still very happy with Local Splash... I own Premier Roofing, LLC in Cabot, Arkansas and I have mostly just advertised in the phone book(s) but wanted to start advertising online and get a Google presence. I was taken advantage of & ripped off by another company, I was paying $550 a month to my website company Madwire Media who was supposed to do all of my online & Google advertising & seo marketing but after a year & a half later I was still on page 5 & 6. I think it took only two months with Local Splash and I was finally on the first page of Google. After all that time and money wasted with a company that did absolutely nothing for me but rebuild my website & lie to me by saying I'm on the first page of Google, I'm with Local Splash and the phones are now ringing. Now I have dropped off the first page of Google a couple of times, but each time I called customer service and not only did they get me right back on the first page, but they credited me with a free month.
