Preparing for the HSK? We've got you covered. Get the 150 words list here (Chinese characters, pinyin, English with uncluttered definitions):
http://www.games2learnchinese.com/vocabulary-advanced.php#advanced

For those of you who have no idea what the HSK is, here's a quick overview:

HSK stands for Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi, which literally means «Chinese Level Exam». It is the equivalent of the TOEFL for Mandarin. The HSK certificate, which is valid for two years, is required of all foreign students wishing to get into Chinese colleges.

The HSK test is made up of listening comprehension and reading comprehension sections, and contains a total of 40 items to be answered within 40 minutes. Students must score at least 120 points to pass the exam. Students who successfully pass the HSK Level I can understand 150 commonly used words and basic grammar patterns, use very simple Chinese sentences, and meet basic needs for communication. The HSK Level I is intended for students who have studied Chinese for a semester with 2 to 3 class hours each week.

Did you know? The original STAR WARS (星球大战 xingqiu dazhan) trilogy was not shown in theaters in China until last year (as part of a limited screening at the Shanghai film festival).

What's funny is that the Chinese somehow found their way towards the bright side of the Force anyway: in 1980, a press in Guangzhou started printing comics about a galaxy far, far away... with heroes named Princess Lei (Laia Gongzhu 來阿公主), and Luke Skywalker (Feitianzhe Luke 飛天者盧克).

Then bootlegged VCR copies of the originals were no doubt passed around in China, before evolving into DVDs and downloaded copies.
