#LitSupport Glossary of eDiscovery Terms

If you’re going to run an #eDiscovery project efficiently and cost effectively, then it’s important that you understand the basics.

No one wants to face an irate client after they’ve discovered that the project management of their eDiscovery went pear shaped because you (the lawyer) didn’t understand the technobabble and the IT person didn’t understand the legal concepts.

Last night, the St Vinnies CEO Sleepout event raised over $615,000 in Victoria. Thank you so much for the support that I received from my network on LinkedIn. Mother Nature brought an extra dose of discomfort to the event – it was cold, wet and windy and the temperature reached 6 degrees. The fact remains that more than 105,000 Australians experiencing homelessness live in the throes of unpredictable weather, with irregular meals and limited access to basic services, every single night. Fundraising will continue until the end of August so please continue to donate. https://www.ceosleepout.org.au/donate/online-donation/

Predictive Coding and the future of e-discovery in Australia
On 16 February 2016, the High Court of England and Wales gave judgment in Pyrrho Investments Limited & Anr v MWB Property Ltd and Others.1 The case scrutinised the use of predictive coding within litigation, a technology that streamlines the review of large sets of documents in an efficient and cost-effective manner. Predictive coding software learns from data input by a practitioner, and then uses that data to create an algorithm to scan and identify similar documents contained within large document sets. http://www.williamroberts.com.au/News-and-Resources/News/Articles/Predictive-Coding-and-the-future-of-e-discovery-in-Australia

The #Print Industry and its Shape Shifting into the Modern Era

Many acquisitions took place in order to stabilise the print industry before the Global Financial Crisis. The mind set at that time was to buy out the small players to dominate the market from all angles. The bigger brands did well for a short period of time after pushing out the smaller players or acquiring them, until the quantities of print diminished to an unsustainable point.

Change and Innovation at #LitSupport

In April 1997, Charles Fishman wrote the following phrase in his article on change in Fast Company Magazine:

“It’s not that the business environment is changing. Change is the business environment. And it’s not that every company is undergoing change. Change has overtaken every company.” http://www.linkedin.com/pulse/change-innovation-litsupport-val-pitt?trk=prof-post

The Vinnies CEO #Sleepout

In just over 5 weeks I will be joining 1300 CEOs sleeping out in the cold. I have never done this before but I feel compelled to experience for one night what over 100,000 Australians experience every night. Please assist me in my quest to make a small difference to what is a big issue in Australia – thank you for your support. http://www.linkedin.com/pulse/vinnies-ceo-sleepout-val-pitt?trk=mp-reader-card
