Plantar fasciitis is one of the most common causes of heel pain, and is caused by inflammation of a thick band of tissue that runs across the bottom of the foot and connects the heel bone to the toes. The problem is common in runners, people who are overweight, pregnant women, and people who wear shoes with inadequate support. Topical non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), stretching and strengthening exercises, or use of specialized devices may ease pain and inflammation. Ask our pharmacist for more information about treatments to relieve plantar fasciitis.
