I often get asked, 'How much does proofreading cost?' So I thought I'd write a blog post about how proofreading pricing really works so folks can compare apples with apples. Let me know if you find it useful.

When quoting for an email auto responder series, do you include provision for tweaking subject lines or content based on click thru? I'd like to do this for a long-standing client of mine but I'm not sure how to include this in my proposal. Your thoughts?

Best app for storing passwords?

Professional head shots - how much should one expect to pay and for how many treatments/poses?

Grrrr. I've just got a next day follow up email from 'Speedlancer - the world's fastest freelance marketplace' who are trying to sell me 4 hour writing or design service at rock bottom prices.

I deleted the first one deciding I wouldn't invest any energy into replying. But today the CEO has followed up with 'Have you got 10 minutes to chat?' What an effing cheek! And how can he send unsolicited marketing emails anyway? How would you respond?

Question re. client management and planning.

I have a nice deposit for the copywriting of a large company brochure. I've met with the client and discussed the job, but 4 weeks later I'm still waiting for my briefing questionnaire to be completed. Turns out, my contact has now left on maternity leave and her replacement is waiting for the MD to complete the brief.

Obviously, the slot I'd allocated this job has come and gone and I'm now pretty much booked solid until mid October. Do I chase the client or do I leave well enough alone? And what happens if I get the brief and they expect me to jump straight on it?

Your advice, as always, is appreciated:)

A client of mine wants to use video in a MailChimp email auto responder campaign. I've not done this before - does anyone have any advice?

I've just watched the MailChimp help video and I don't know if it's because it's the end of my working day, or because my kids are watching Transformers in the background, but it was as if the narrator was speaking a different language…

Tricky website copy pricing question for you:

If the original per page price I quoted was for copy up to 650 words, what would you charge for pages that have gone wayyyyyy over 650 words? I mean up to 3.5 times over!

(As revisions came back with more content requirements I did advise that the cost would rise and they okay'd it.)

Oh - and to make things just a tad more tricky - the client is a very good friend who I'm charging at mates rates.

Your wisdom and advice is greatly appreciated!
