Me with my 5DMKII & new favourite lens, the 100mm f/2.8.

Such a fast, sharp & gorgeous lens for macros and portraits. This photo was taken with the same lens by my friend +Scott Meinzer during a little impromptu photo walk along the Embarcadero.

What's your favourite lens at the moment?

And where is the picture you took a few seconds later?

Is it 70mm Canon Camera????

Im going for this lens too. Currently my favorite is the 85 1.8

Lovely Face,lips............

My thanks to Scott for taking this picture!

The clarity is great. I love my Nikon 50mm f1.8 but don't use it nearly enough. I sometimes find it hard to get a sharp focus with it though.

5D Mark II with the 100mm f/2.8L macro is my combination of choice right now.

Quite the look for being an impromptu photo.

My Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8 VR. It's a great lens, very sharp and built tough enough to club a carjacker.

I adore my 50mm 1.8, but I have to admit that my 85mm 1.4 is creeping up in my affections very quickly.

Your eyes look amazing -- My favorite lens is the Nikon 50mm f/1.4 -- It's lovely and sharp and great for taking candids of friends and family indoors.

My Sigma 150mm 2.8 macro. Super sharp.

Canon 70-200mm 2.8
Besides macros, wouldn't the 70-200mm (at 100mm) offer the same quality as your 100mm for portraits?
iam eli

Lisa, I am interested in purchasing that lens as well. Can you post some macro examples?

50mm f/1.4 is my all time favorite. But for close up shots I prefer macro: 105 f/2.8

So far, my favorite lens is the EF 24-70mm f/2.8 L but will buy the 50mm f/1.2 L soon and I'm sure that will be my favorite one. :-)

I love my Nikkor 50mm, f/1.8D - incredible value for money! :-)

Very cute girl with a very nice lens. :)
In previous life, my favourite was very similar, 100mm F/2.5, awesome lens.
I'm working on the process of acquiring a similar one asap, but for the time being, the favourite is a 50mm F/2.8 macro.

Can't possibly decide amongst: 50mm f1.4 for portraits, 10-20mm f3.5 for HDR's -- which are the two things occupying me in photography atm
josh h

you do look great, but this picture erodes it a little somehow

+Robert Scoble 135 f/2 is my favorite lens. Sharpest lens Canon makes. I just ordered the 8-15 fisheye yesterday. :)

+Lisa Bettany I've got the old 100mm f/2.8 macro. I've been meaning to replace it with this one for a while -- wish I had the one you're using. Was shooting flowers with mine yesterday. :)

My 10-1000 L IS USM f/1.2-3.5 macro !!!!
iam eli

My fav so far is my canon 70-200 f2.8L IS II USM

V Nice short. is this original shoot or was this photo edited? Just wondering?

I've the old 100mm f/2.8 and I adore that lens. I'd love to check out the new version. Oh yes.

My 60mm f/2.8 is my very favorite at the moment. But I'm saving up for the 17-40 f/4L

I'm rediscovering the beauty of the classic OM 135mm f/3.5 adapted on my e-Pen. Never used it much in the film days, but it feels right now with the in-body stabilizer.

And for street shooting, I'm sold to the Panasonic 20 mm f/1.7.

just got a very old 50mm f/1.8 lens on ebay for 30€... best lens i have... but i only have the kit-lens of my 500d and some other old old lenses ... so that may not be saying much ;)

Currently loving my new baby the 70-200 2.8L IS MKII on my 7D.

I have the 100 2.8 (non L version) and I am constantly debating if I should sell it or not. Part of me realises that unless I am shooting an Actual Macro (which I don't do too much) I will use the 70-200 over the 100, part of me thinks I should also sell the 50 1.4 (I have an old 50mm Super Takumar that I use with an adapter that I love, but would I miss the AF of the Canon...) and use the money from both for a 100L or something else... decisions decisions!

Also, you're naked!! Can't believe you aren't using the hood!

if you aren't charging Canon you should be, the photo looks like a Canon advert and you could convert a die hard Nikon fanboy.

You are beautiful and i love how sharp this lens is.

Beauty at its best. It's fantastic to see you concentrating on your subject.

Favourite at the moment is my 50mm f/1.2L. Nice portrait btw,

I hope the 100mm prime Nikon is as nice as that lens, because now I want it!

+Lisa Bettany whoa I see you have the L version... have you used the non-L version? I wonder if the price difference is worth it...
Joe San

Beautifull, nice picture and Gz on the awesome cam n new lens ^^,

I don't buy a lens unless its going to be a moment. Nikon 14-24mm... And not having any clue how to use it... That was a moment.

Don't know which is prettier - you or the 100mm!
Dae McD

Lovely picture Lisa

Awesome! The lense you're using, can it fit my Canon 40d?

I like it. I've been contemplating the Canon EF 85mm f/1.8 USM for portrait work (just on a hobby basis). Any thoughts on that lens? Any other "non-professional-grade" lenses you'd suggest for portrait work?

LOVE the 100/2.8, but now I keep shooting pics of bugs all the time and people don't like it so much. LOL

Great picture. +Eugene Gregorio It'll fit the 40D as it's an EF mount lens. I'm still in love shooting with my 24 - 70mm 2.8L on a 5D.

Thats the new macro 100 isn't it? hows the grip? its different from most of the canon grips.

That's the one I use the most right there in your hand. I love that lens.

My Canon EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM for great wide angle night shots

Nikon Series E 75-150mm f/3.5, such an underrated lens.

As photography is only for a hobby for me I've settled on Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II ... great for an inexpensive lens. But I am seriously looking at getting the new one Lisa is using.

I love my Sigma 18-50mm DC f:2.8 EX lens. The Nikon 50mm f/1.8 D is a very close second.

right now it is summer, so for me it has to be my Sigma 10-20mm for outdoor landscape work. Once winter comes I will be indoors and using the Canon 100mm macro as well. Love that lens, it is just so sharp!!!

Great shot! I wish at least one of the pictures I take looked half as good.

my fav is the only one I have right now, Sigma 18-50 f2.8 EX but may add the 100mm f/2.8 instead of the Canon 70-200 f/4 that I was going to pick up soon. Decisions, decisions?

+Bill Gross I believe the 85mm 1.2 is the one we briefly talked about. Would enjoy trying that one, but with my crop sensor I'm finding the Canon 50mm to be the favorite. Think I'm actually looking more at +Lisa Bettany in this photograph than the lens on her 5DMKII

24-70 because I just got it. I'll be picking up a 100mm soon though.

wow..this is quite a beautiful picture and your are quite a beauty!

gosh! Lisa you are soooooo Beautiful:))

I have that lens too and love it, but my current favorite is the canon 24mm 1.4 It's giving me such beautiful photos! : )

Ah, that is my favorite lens! The color and clarity are remarkable. Between that and my 50mm 1.8 I may never need another lens.
Chaa X

I got 200 F/2.0, It is perfect!

It's a cop-out but the one that is on the camera when I need it!

I have been thinking about getting that lens myself, looks super sharp.

Love them all, but the Zeiss ZM 35/2 Biogon T* has to be my favourite. It just gets me.

My Canon 70-200 f2.8L IS II gets used the most - its a workhorse...
top dog

好漂亮!I come from china,in my eyes, you are angle!

The very affordable Tamron 17-50 f2.8 has relegated my canon 28-135 to the "for sale" bin and my 50 f1.8 only gets special low low light work and some macro time when paired with an extension tube.

My Tamron AF18-270mm F/3.5-6.3 Di II VC, mated to my Nikon D40. Pretty much a go anywhere lens.

Joy is the best makeup. - like a heaven sent angel :-D

95% of everything I shoot is with the Nikon 85mm f/1.8.

Favorite walk around lens in 50mm f/1.4. Like your lens, it's DOF is great for portraits, except I've got to get closer. Back in the 60's my first lens on my Nikon Ftn Photomic was the 105mm.

I think you should be a model , and i should be a photographer . what a look you have . thanks i regularly watching your photography +Lisa Bettany

you have a beautiful eyes.. :)
arjun v

gorgeous, oh yeah... :D

+Thomas Hawk +Robert Scoble the older 100mm macro has another feature: stopping down to f32. I've used this before outside when I want to kill ambient light/the sun, and then bring the flashes in. My other lenses won't stop down that far.

The one and only 50 1.4!! since I cant afford the 16-35 yet :( And BTW +Lisa Bettany you are beautiful!! :) Superbe picture!

Just got my new Nikon 50mm f/1.8G in the mail today. So far I love it.

Beautiful portrait! My favourite lens is the Canon EF 70-200/2.8L IS II. Stunning lens in every way and suitable for almost everything.

Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8 ---- ol' reliable!!!

Nikon D3000 Digital Camera with AF-S NIKKOR 55-200 mm 14-5.6 G ED

All time fav: Canon EF 85 1.2

I got that very lens this year (Canon EF 100mm F2.8 Macro) and it is fantastic. My only beef is that it can be hard to manual focus things farther away accurately because it is setup for macro but macro focusing is great! The only problem now is that I take photos of everything small, even my last kidney stone...because I could. :-P I think my 50 F1.4 is a bit better for my studio portraits though because I can't get back far enough with my crop sensor (7D) in the little room I usually setup my lights in. I love that lens too.

I have a Sigma 70-200 F2.8 which is awesome. My only problem is that it is too narrow for many occasion, but I love using it.

Difficult to say, depend on what Kind of photography I do...
For wildlife, probably my 500mm f/4 but for sport the 300mm f/2.8. For portrait, my 85mm f/1.2 inside or 135 f/2 outside, and for landscape... I'm still looking for. Maybe one of these day a TS-E lens but for the moment the 24-70 is the one I use the most.

Wow! It's amazing photo....

Nice camera, nice girl.
But I love U than your camera :-)

+Matt Daniels not essentially because primes typically have better quality glass. Someone please correct me if I am wrong.

My favorite is the 70-200 F2.8 L I also use it with the new EF 2x Mk111 extender. A while ago on a Hangout with +Trey Ratcliff you asked him about a wide angle lens for Canon that will match his 14 mm on the Nikon. You wanted that extra wider coverage , but the Canon EFS10-22 only fits APS -C bodies. you should look at the Sigma 12-24mm F4.5-5.6 EX DG ASP HSM. It is designed for full frame , and from what I read, it doesn't give up anything on quality against a Canon L lens. I use a Canon 10-22 on a 7D.

You're doing a great work both behind the camera as well as in front of the camera! Impressive!

The pic amazing and you are looking stunning. Sometime simple natural poses looks so great!!!!!!!!!!!!

My most used lens is the Canon 50/1.8 Mk I. But I love the Zenitar 16mm fisheye.

I love my 85 mm 1.8 on my 50D :)

OMG! U look as beautiful as always! :)

Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8 for walking around. I need to get a real portrait lens...

Stunning portrait. I Love the delight and anticipation in your eyes and expression. Lighting is superb too. Beautiful girl!

I love my 100 f/2.8 (non L) but right now my 24-105 stays on most of the time.

lady with lenses ! awsome photograph !!

Tamron 28-75mm 2.8. But I'm using it to shoot video.

great photo !! but u r absolutely GORGEOUS !!!!!!!!!!!!

That lens wars with my 17-55 f2.8 for time on my 7D. Its a fantastic lens.

wowwwww!!!
U're a great photographer!!! Well done!!! :D

24-105 f4 for me. It's a good lens when traveling especially now that I have kids and I can only bring one lens.

great portrait of you +Lisa Bettany I guess I should add which is my current favorite lens. Definitely my 27-70/2.8L

Seeing your photos makes me wonder why most other beautiful women haven't learned to take pictures of themselves. Nobody could know your subject better than you....

I can never get over just how BRIGHT your eyes are in any photo of you!!! Absolutely beautiful!!

I love the colours in the lens, really lovely photo, great expression too.

realy you are so nice and beautiful...
i love your smart,sness...

I remember an interview you did with Frederick van Johnson and Scott Bourne several years ago where you were talking about buying used lenses or renting them because you couldn't afford new lenses. Glad to see you are doing well and getting new glass.

I got the same 100 mm lens - it's awesome. For portraits I do prefer the 50 mm f/1.8 but I will look into the 85 mm f/1.8

I'm sorry, do you use Canon gear, or model for them? :-D

My current favorite is my Canon 50mm f1.2. I love it for close ups, far-aways and anything in between. It's my favorite because I own it. But...if I owned the Canon 135mm f2, that would probably be hard to get off my camera. I've rented and borrowed the lens a few times, and fall deeply in love with it each time.

I only have two lenses on my 5d. 50mm f/1.4 and 17-40 f/4. I love both.
I also often borrow the 100mm 2.8 macro lens from my friend and I think it's the best for portraits.

Very nice shots you have here, will take some time to browse through them! :)

On a cropped body (60d) I love the 50 f/1.4

I am sure that, you can be perfect model for the photographers.

I love my Canon and i am thinking of getting this soon ;-)

I think a lot of news shooter would see this image as appearing too posed, too static, with a smile that looks held and not captured. And the tones in the face appear flat, almost muddy. Possibly the facial tones have been Photoshopped to a small extent?
