Story

Director at Arras People - Project Management Recruitment and Career Specialists
Introduction

I started Arras People in 2002 with two colleagues because we had been on the "over side of the fence" when we were working as Programme Managers, Project Managers and Project Office Manager, we found it immensely difficult to find good staff when we needed them - both contractor staff and permanent staff. We were bound by PSLs that didn't deliver the goods - high street recruitment agents that were good at finding support staff but not so hot on understanding and finding the right project management staff. We wanted to be able to develop a business which would address this need - talking to someone who understands the role (someone who has been there and done it) makes it a lot easier to hand over the brief - confident that the people who will be presented to you in a shortlist are all going to be able to do the role well. Almost 11 years on, we still deliver what set out to do - the business is staffed by project management practitioners with recruitment experience and its been quite a journey over the last 11 years. Today we all enjoy working together both on developing the recruitment business as well as keeping our own hands in with the project management world

I personally enjoy the programme and project office side of project management - I became involved the PMO Specialist Interest Group about 10 years ago because I'm still very passionate about the role. I've also had the pleasure of talking to many other PMO-ers who are equally as passionate about the role and would like to see it develop further within the project management community.

Specialties:

Programme and Project Management Recruitment - Specialism also includes a focus on Programme and Project Offices
