It feels almost like a badge of honor at first when we enter the social work field and begin to “take on” the burden and pain of our clients.... But when we go home at the end of a shift, a day, a session, what then? When we are met at the door by families, responsibilities, other people who “need” us, do we have anything left for them? For ourselves?
