Have we done enough to welcome more Chinese tourists to the States?
In 2013, China ranked the No. 8 country with the most tourists entering the United States, recording 1.8 million travelers. In 2014, President Obama announced a new visa plan between China and the U.S.  The ease of visa requirement is expected to bring in e...

Aloft Hotels Introduce Robotic Butlers, Bringing in Better or Worse Customer Experience?

The topic of technology is in a gray area in terms of benefits and set-backs.  On one hand, technology has made life more convenient and efficient, and because of these advantages the set-backs are not as looked down upon.  The increase of technology has slowly been destroying our society, both environmentally and socially.   Therefore, in my opinion, if not created wisely and with caution, technology can either really benefit our society and industry or it can harm it.  As Aloft tries to reassure that the botler is only there to help enhance guest experience, it’s still concerning for service staff and those in the field.  Technology has already affected the demand and need for travel agents.  So what will be the difference in this case that will keep this scenario from happening again?  Though it’s understandable that the botlers are used to position Aloft from other brands in the market; where is the balance drawn when it comes to human and technology service?  Considering technology is already helping businesses provide amazing service, it definitely has the potential to help provide better service in the future.  It’s just the matter of how much companies decide to use it that would affect the guest’s overall experience.  Like everything in life, a balance would need to be found between both technology and personal service.

Think How We Eat, Not What We Eat

Honestly, I would rate it between 4 - 5 stars because it serves authentic Cantonese food with very reasonable price. The service is just fine --- probably because I also speaks Cantonese; I have no difficulty with the servers at all, unlike some other reviewers said. I actually eat in this restaurant often. I really feel it is unfair for this restaurant to receive such a low rating. That's why I am writing this review. Should others have given this restaurant a more fair rating, I would give it a 4 out of 5 rating. I am a hospitality professor who does research on social media. I was also interviewed by mainstream media about online reviews. I know exactly how some restaurants might receive bad reviewers from time to time. To balance the bad reviews a little bit, I feel I need to jump in and give this restaurant a 5 star.

I lived in the Regency Tower in the past four years. What I like about this place include: rent includes all utility (including cable TV now); it has garage parking (and heated in the winter); the building is gated with security guards; staff working there is friendly, manager is flexible in working with me when renewing the contract; my apartment has hardwood floor and a breath-taking view of the SU campus/Downtown SU. After I moved out, I also get my full security deposit back very soon (indeed, I cleaned the apartment very well). After it outsourced the security to another company, I have found some security guards are not as attentive as the old ones. Overall, I enjoyed my experience in the Regency Tower. Yes, the building is not new, but I think this place offers great price for everything it offers.

A very good and clean restaurant located in a nice neighborhood. It serves typical Indian buffet with several choices of entrees. Overall, it is a very nice place even though I cannot say it is exceptionally good.

Cannot beat the price. Great value. Same kind of food in East Coast would cost $20+ for lunch and $30+ for dinner.

Everything is good. It is funny when my friend (not a Chinese) asked --- how come a Chinese restaurant does not look like a Chinese restaurant (with all the western decors)? I laughed. Well, it serves good dim sum and the service is good. I also think the food is very authentic too. Yes, of course, the price is a little higher than a normal dim sum place, but it is worthy.

I like this newly-opened Asian (more of a Chinese) grocery store. It sells fresh Chinese vegetables and fish, with many other cooking ingredients. The price is also very reasonable. I hope it will keep up its good work in the future, like maintaining a clean environment and selling good food. At this point, the owner is doing a very good job. It is probably the best Chinese store in Syracuse.
