Listen. Sugar is delicious.

And addictive.

But you can’t be a slave to the sugar hamster wheel forever (well you can, but forever is gonna come and go a lot sooner for ya).

If you’re ready to break the cycle, check out this post.

I have a love-hate relationship with new year's resolutions.

On one hand, they give you a chance to reflect on what you want to achieve in 2016.

On the other, and probably because setting a goal for the entire year seems like such a daunting task, we can end up feeling burdened and overwhelmed.

Instead of setting realistic intentions, we choose big, scary, everyone-gives-up-on-these-anyways new year's resolutions.

And these just highlight all the areas we feel inadequate about ourselves or our abilities.

What if I told you the key to setting achievable goals was as simple as OMITTING a single word from your resolution?

Well that’s exactly what I cover in this blog post. (I assure you, it’s not about dumbing it down or setting the bar lower.)

Whether your goal is health-related or not, you’ll want to read this one. It’s key to avoiding the most common self-sabotaging pitfall of goal-setting (and goal-reaching).

I’ve been anticipating this for a while and, to be honest, I’ve been a bit torn about whether or not I would consent to drinking the glucola (aka - glucose tolerance test for gestational diabetes).

After all, I’ve openly criticized its validity in numerous interviews, most notably on Robb Wolf’s podcast.

If you’re thinking either:
A) Why would you drink that sugary, toxic garbage?
OR
B) Why wouldn’t you take the test?! You’re a specialist in gestational diabetes, you hypocrite!!

Those are both valid points.

But I decided to go for it and I’m (over)sharing my reasons why – and about my experience drinking that sugar bomb - in today’s post.

HINT: There were 4 main reasons I said “yes.” Can you guess them?

There’s nothing wrong with a little overindulgence here and there, but I know Thanksgiving often triggers unhealthy habits that continue all winter long.

If you’re keen to avoid the whole “I can’t get up from the table because it hurts too much” saga, this post is for you.

I’m going through 5 tips to help you give thanks without overdoing it.

Wondering if you should take a probiotic supplement or eat more yogurt?

You might be surprised by how much friendly bacteria are in fermented foods - some have much more than even the "high potency" probiotic supplements.

Here are 5 fermented foods to boost your intake of probiotics.

I came across an article you wrote about low carb/high fat. Very good information btw. I'd like to start this type of diet but a little nervous as some articles bash on it pretty hard. Is it safe for long-term use with weight training?

Body. Image.

Loaded words on their own. Even more so together.

Then add pregnancy to the mix and things start to get complicated.

Body image wasn’t initially something I worried about going into pregnancy, but that didn’t last.

How that happened is another story – and one that any pregnant mama can relate to.

If you have your own story, be sure to tell us in the comments on the post. What was the most offensive comment you received while pregnant? And on the flipside, what’s the kindest compliment you got while pregnant?

Spaghetti and meatballs.

Classic.
Comforting.
Food for the soul.

Buuuuut, not exactly the most healthful meal.

That’s why I decided to reinvent this comfort food with nutrient-dense twist.

It’s easy on the tummy, a treat for your taste buds, and friendly to your waistline.

I was sure I had passed, so when the lab tech said:
“You should have studied better.”

I knew he was joking.

But he wasn’t.

I failed the glucola. Now what?

Do I have gestational diabetes?!

The holidays have a way of distracting us – and not just with annoyingly repetitive Christmas carols (Can I please burn all copies of the song that goes “simmmm-ply haaaa-ving a wonderful Christmas time?!).

But things like:
- the hunt for “perfect” gift (aka driving from shopping center to shopping center and battling crowded stores with overworked, disgruntled seasonal staff)
- the temptation of endless holiday sweets (who could pass up Aunt Meg’s homemade egg nog?)
- drinking more, driving more (<– hopefully not at the same time)

There’s just a lot going on and the (sometimes forced) festivity can quickly become overwhelming.

So if you find yourself getting bogged down with all the madness, read this.
