Glass or Polymer fibre cables?

Generally speaking glass fibres are better suited for environments where high temperatures are constant. Glass fibres are very thin conductors only a few microns in diameter and to construct a sizable light conductor hundreds or thousands of glass fibres would be required.

With lamp technology being more efficient and constantly advancing PMMA fibres are a far more cost effective solution. Easier to work with, more flexible, have a better bending radii and typically a 20 year working life of the cable is the standard guarantee.
