16 Inspiring Luxury Patio Ideas

Here come displayed 16 selected photos showing just as many outdoor patio ideas of different styles – from the traditional Spanish patios to some very avant-garde examples. Common element of many mansions and villas, the patio has the function of providing a house with an outdoor space for dining and recreating.

Patios must be beautiful, being the first feature that guests notice in a house. This is probably the reason why patio designs are so intriguing. We publish this selection  of photos of patio designs  with the hope that readers will find them useful to develop their own patio design concept.

Among our luxury patio ideas, this traditional outdoor patio with classical reddish pavers and wooden roof is probably one of the most scenic thank to its location just in front of the garden with the swimming pool in sight. Notice the elegant glass table with Spanish-style decorated chairs all around in the foreground.

In this example for luxury patio ideas, the patio has been inserted inside a combined space that has the functions of living room and dining room. Glass panels divide each functional area from each other, while the stone walls and the arches not only provide some nice ornamental elements, but also demark the patio area inside the space.

Wooden roof, classical round arches and straight columns characterise this Spanish-style covered patio. In this example for  patio ideas, the traditional patio pavers are replaced by stone tiles, which is a bit unusual in these types of patio designs. Guests may have dinner or simply relax in conversation, while enjoying the scenic view on the pond.

This is a nice example of an avant-garde outdoor patio in our collection of luxury patio designs. The roof is extremely stylized in a structure made out of metal frames and glass panels. The space is totally immersed in the garden, and the tradtional patio stones are replaced by  marble tiles. Finally, the fireplace on the right adds a note of pleasant cosiness to the whole composition.

South East Asia traditional decorative elements and modern design concepts have been combined  in this fine outdoor patio in order to create an informal and familiar ambience, where it is nice to stay and relax with friends. The colours of the patio stones match the colours of the stones of the elegant fireplace placed in the middle.

Patio designs are often inspired by exotic cultures or classicism, like in this outdoor patio. The capitals and the spiral decorations of the columns remind of Mycenaean Art, yet these classical elements are inserted in a modern building. The palette utilizes a slightly pink sand colour that perfectly harmonizes with the surrounding desert environment.

Sometimes, outdoor patio ideas combine several functional spaces in one, like in this interesting example. The covered patio takes just a small portion of the wide terrace we see in the foreground, while the rest is used as a living area and furnished with armchairs, couches and a nice table with a small fireplace placed in the middle.

Best outdoor patio ideas often exploit smartly the natural environment around, like in this fine example of Spanish style covered patio that has been provided with a large balcony from which guests can enjoy a stunning view on the valley.

Bricks triumph in this example of covered patio, which is also provided with a practical cooking area. The brick fireplace adds a further warm note to a composition that already conveys a feeling of informality and relaxation. This is a great solution if you need a space where to  share nice moments with friends.

Swimming pools can be a very inspirational element for many luxury outdoor patio ideas. In this example, the patio is set all around the rectangular pool in the foreground, and it is totally integrated with the garden. A great patio design for those who need a huge outdoor space where to give parties.

A total integration with a surrounding garden is a common feature of many modern patio designs, like it is clearly shown in this nice example of luxurious outdoor patio. Stone floor, roof in metal frame and glass panel, beautiful view on the near swimming pool.

Patio stones can create beautiful decorative effects, like in this nice example of outdoor patio. Notice the unusually pod-shaped fireplace that creates a cute cosy corner where to stay and relax, and the huge French door through which we glimpse a luxurious living room.

M.C. Escher has certainly inspired the architect of this covered patio with classical Italian columns and round arches. Equipped with cooking and living areas and a big fireplace, it is a great solution for those who need a wide and luxurious space where to invite guests for parties and dinners.

The irregular and colourful patio stones create a pleasantly informal ambience in this nice covered patio fully equipped with fireplace and cooking area. The design is simple and a bit rustic, but not inelegant. This example can be inspirational to those who are looking for outdoor patio ideas that convey a sense of cosiness and familiarity.

The utilisation of wood for the columns and the roof vaguely reminds the splendours of the Tibetan architecture, which might have inspired the designer of this covered patio. The classical  big white fireplace is the central element of the layout, around which the whole composition is built. Notice the patio pavers of concrete that are practical yet beautiful in their bare essentiality.

Again, another Indonesian-inspired example for seekers of luxurious outdoor patios. The patio is merged with the huge terrace paved with large concrete tiles that we see in the foreground. The covered area is delimited by the nice Indonesian style columns and arches,  and it works as living area.

24 Luxury Home Sauna Ideas

Having one’s own home sauna has become popular today. An increasing number of people ask for this healthful facility with the hope to both enjoy sauna benefits and have a nice place where to stay in relaxation.

But how to design home saunas? In the measure that in-home saunas are more requested, sauna design becomes more and more sophisticated. In this post, 24 photos showing some great examples of luxury saunas are displayed, with the purpose of providing our readers with good inspirational material.

A home sauna is traditionally made out of birch wood, as this material has great insulating properties. The usage comes from Finland, the country of origin of modern home saunas. Huge glass panels are optional, they are often utilised in luxury saunas because they give a sense of elegance, as in this tasteful example.

Among saunas benefits, relaxation is the main. In this example of a luxury sauna the walls of the sauna cabinet have been made entirely in glass, so that guests can enjoy a scenic view upon the town. This is both esthetical and practical, as it increases  the sense of relaxation of users.

Inside a classic home sauna. We see the typical layout on three/four steps of the wooden grid where guests sit down. The walls are covered with wooden panels, and the door as well. On a corner, the brazier, and in the foreground the typical bucket with water.

Another nice example of sauna design for in-home saunas. Wide glass panels are utilised to give the usual feeling of no separation with the outside environment, while the wall has been unusually covered with stone bricks. The brazier has been built in a small island, and the sauna cabinet is compact and perfectly space-optimized.

Home saunas are typically placed in bathrooms, as this is their best possible location. In this way, it is exalted the bathroom function as a place where you can both do toilette and relax. In this example, an in-home sauna has been conveniently placed near the bathtub, so that you can switch from  sauna benefits to Jacuzzi comforts.

A Japanese influence is evident in many sauna designs. It doesn’t come surprising, as this exotic country has a long tradition of home saunas and public spas. While Finnish saunas are mostly made out of birch wood, in Japan the range of the materials that are utilized in building in-home saunas is much wider, and it includes also tiles and stones.

Being relatively small and easy-manageable, Finnish saunas are a natural complement of any bathroom. They add an element of great comfort to any house. Sauna benefits include deep detoxification and cardio-vascular reactivation, not to mention the sense of relaxation and welfare that we enjoy immediately after.

The photo above shows a detail of a classical sauna design for a home sauna. Raw birch wood is used almost everywhere. The floor is the only exception, being covered with dark grey ceramic tiles. Guests get access to the sauna through a classical small glass panel door through which we glimpse the bench set inside.

Innovation has affected also the conservative world of sauna designers. In this example of Luxury sauna, the utilization of glass panels, metal frames, fine wood panels and indirect lightning create an environment that is both practical and beautiful.

There aren’t only in-home saunas. The traditional hut-shaped Finnish wooden sauna is a very versatile formula that designers can easily adopt even on the making of outdoor solutions, like in this cool example of home sauna, where the sauna cabinet has been placed on the balcony.

A great example of an elegant in-home luxury sauna. The wide glass panel door leads inside a spacious and comfortable sauna equipped with the traditional raw birch benches, the brazier with volcanic stones, the bucket and the hourglasses. The towels are stored in the big wall cupboards before the entry.

Space optimization plays an important role in sauna design. Here, the sauna is reduced to a kind of  modular element that can be added or removed to an interior space as you please. Small and compact, yet comfortable, this home sauna in wood can be placed almost everywhere.

In this example of home sauna, the floor made with wooden batons reminds orient and Japan. The design is really innovative, combining a shower box and a drying sauna in the same cabinet. This is practical, as everybody needs to take a refreshing shower after having sauna.

Another example of a beautiful luxury sauna. An elegant walnut wooden wall cupboard provides a practical  place  where to put towels and other toilette products. On one side of the cupboard, there is the sauna; on the other side, a comfortable big shower box where we can refresh waits for us.

A sauna design that breaks the traditional clichés of Finnish  home saunas. The main material is still row wood, but the cabinet shape is not as squared as the ordinary in-home saunas, but irregular. This creates a sense of dynamism  and variety, but without affecting in any way functionality.

Again, another luxury sauna with huge glass front wall. Inside, a linear design changes this home sauna into a posh yet relaxing environment, where the classical birch panels are masterfully converted into decorative elements. Notice the fine brazier painted with the same dark grey colour of the volcano stones.

Some decorative elements taken from the far east tradition (like the nice shape of the stools) makes this sauna design particularly beautiful. Red adds a note of colourful vivacity to the whole composition, while the metallized colours of the wall panels combines with their linear design to create a feeling of simple, unbeatable elegance.

In this luxury sauna, the glass panels of the cabinet create a sense of continuity between the sauna and the elegant bathroom where the sauna is placed. The traditional raw birch benches and panels are replaced with  a single long bench made out of bleached wood and big squared tiles in ceramics that repeat the colours of the bathroom walls.

A classical raw bitch wooden home sauna of linear and simple design where space is highly optimized and walls are made out of glass in order to create the usual sense of continuity with the environment outside. Practical brazier in dark metal, and shower immediately at hand.

A luxury sauna that wisely combines modernity and tradition. The staircase shape bench makes the most of the small available space. Birch wood is still the main material, but the panel shape is modern and elegant. Notice the cute wooden bucket near the comfortable iron brazier.

A kitchen is a strange – and not practical - location for a home sauna, but this is it in this bizarre design. Inside, we have the classical Finnish sauna made out of raw wood and with the typical staircase shape raw birch benches. Strange but possible design.

A great example of posh and superbly elegant sauna design characterised by a cabinet that imitates a traditional canopy. The difference is that inside there is a sauna fully equipped with a metal brazier and authentic volcano stones, buckets in white ceramics, and comfortable raw birch benches, instead of the expected double bed.

Clean, bright and modern, this sauna design inserts the traditional elements of home saunas – birch benches, wooden racks, brazier and volcano stones – in a modern context. Notice its unusual location – the attic – and the irregular disposition of the glass wall that creates a sense of pleasant dynamism.

Again, a home sauna placed in an attic, but with a practical bathtub (and hopefully a whole bathroom) at hand this time. The shape of the sauna cabinet has been adapted to the roof, and the space perfectly optimized. We find again all classic elements of sauna design, from the usual metal brazier to the raw birch benches.

There is no luxury house that is worth its name without its luxury gym. Billionaires seem to have a special attraction for home gym equipment, while having one’s own private home gym sounds glamorous - just not to say that it makes you decisively sexy -  how Hollywood’s films, from “9 ½ weeks” to “Fifty shades of grey”, teach.

Where to set up your home gym? A real luxury gym needs a lot of space in order to ensure the best of comfort and impress guests conveniently. In this design, the home gym equipment has been placed inside a huge room with many French windows that create a bright and roomy ambience.

Another great place to host  a luxury gym is the attic, like in the example above. The large skylight and the wide windows make this home gym look like a sunroom. The gym equipment is conveniently set in front of the huge wall mirror on the right, while the pastel blue colour gives a feeling of peace and relaxation.

In this stunning design of luxury gym, the gym equipment that you utilize to perform your daily home workouts has been set up  around a swimming pool . You can dive into the pool and  freshen up when you have finished. Outside, there is a wide balcony where to lay in the sun  and relax.

This simple yet practical home gym has been set up on the ground floor, so that it is possible to get easy access to the beautiful garden outside. Performing your daily home workouts  must be great  in a room where it is possible to get contact with nature simply by opening a door.

The house gym equipment  has been masterfully set  along the walls in this luxury gym design, as if the machines were art works. In this way this home gym looks like an art gallery, which is perfect to impress guests.  Notice the paintings on the walls that add a further touch of elegance and sophistication to the composition.

Light is the strong point of this nice home gym design. A bright ambience is obtained through the massive utilization of French windows, and some  wall glasses make the room look wider. Home workouts are performed by the help of the rich set of machines, or on a mattress  on the wooden floor.

Saunas are a natural element of a home gym, like the example above clearly shows. The home gym equipment has been typically placed in front of the wall mirror, while the practical shower in the corner on the right allows you a moment of peace and relaxation after your daily home workouts.

Where are we here,  in a bright living room or in a practical home gym? Notice the elegant chandelier  hanging from the ceiling and the wall decorations with classical motifs that make this luxury gym more suitable to impress guests than perform  your home workouts.

Again,  home gym and sauna are smartly combined in the same room in this elegant yet practical design that smartly uses wooden panels, ceramic tiles, huge windows and French doors in order to create a bright and roomy ambience. Luxury Estate - $7 Million Canadian Home

It's time to visit a real luxury estate, now. Through this photo gallery, we will have a virtual tour of a $7 million Canadian home. We will try to understand the design solutions that makes this mansion so beautiful and valued in order to better understand the world of luxury and its values.  This home was designed by our friends at FDM Designs.

A luxury estate must not necessarily be a castle or a majestic (but monotonous) building. On the contrary, luxury mansions are often airy and light. In our example, the utilization of classical elements combines with the smart layout of the volumes in order to create a feeling of pleasant variety that intrigues and seduces visitors at first sight.

Luxury estates must be functional and beautiful. Here, the spacious porch opens into a nice garden with the typical swimming pool placed  right in the middle. In this way it is created an environment  that is suitable  to host both big parties and intimate dinners with friends.

Going inside this luxury estate, everything changes suddenly.  We leave the familiar and relaxing  ambience  of the porch to enter a huge space where the skilful utilization of a palette of white and grey combined with white marbles and classical decorations  gives to visitors an impression of seriousness and formality .

The detail of this resting room reveals other  interesting features of the design of the inside of the mansion. The big, linear fireplace adds a touch of intimacy and cosiness to the serious atmosphere of the room, while guests may sit down on the two long and comfortable couch set along the wall.

We have reached a living room, now. The layout of the room utilizes a staggered level in order to better organize space and generate a feeling of variety. The pop art posters are harmonized with the classicism of the furniture thanks to the utilization of the same palette of colours. Notice the complicated curvy shapes of the huge sofa on the foreground that adds a touch of further dynamism to the whole composition.

Again a living room, but its concept is totally different from the previous one. The room is nearly empty, as the furniture is reduced to the table in the mid and its chairs. But a new colour (red) has been  added to the palette. Vivid yet elegant, red reinforces the impression of  being  ambling through a luxury estate in this design.

In this detail, we can observe how materials, shapes and layout interact  in order to generate the posh ambience of any real luxury estate. Classical style pieces of furniture (like the table and the statue) have been masterfully set near modern furniture (the chandelier, the pop art poster, the irregularly shaped tool, the couch) in order to give a sense of variety and dynamism and break monotony.

Again a big change of mood in this combined space that goes back to the informal atmosphere of the porch. Great place where to spend time with friends, it is equipped with billiard table and comfortable cooking area  composed of an island with electric hob and a counter with built-in sink, cabinets, and a small fridge.

In the same combined space of above, but in a different zone. Here, the mood is again classical and serious thanks to the utilisation of the same repetitive palette of white and grey. Functionality is paramount, as the huge and comfortable couch in the foreground shows  clearly.

In a luxury estate worthy of the name, bathrooms are important and they cannot be trivial. Here, the design utilizes emptiness in order to create a bathroom that is very spacious and airy. The pieces of furniture look small, unimportant, as they were lost in an infinite white space. Yet, comfort is great.

Now, we see a detail of the wardrobe. The impressive set of cupboards  and wall cabinets provides the inhabitants and guests of this luxury estate with all the space they wish, while the several mirrors placed here and there  allow to check one’s look and add a further element of comfort.

We have reached the sleeping rooms. The palette does not change; though it is still white and grey, dark grey is much more utilized. In this way these rooms are stylistically connected to the rest of the house,  but in the same time also differentiated.

The same room of before, but taken from a different prospective. A huge wall fireplace appears together with two big and comfortable armchairs where intimate guests and friends can sit down. Combined with the dark walnut floor, this creates an ambience that is warm and cosy.

Now, we are going through a corridor. In the background, we see an atelier; on the right, the sleeping room we have just visited. The space is empty , but not bare, as the ceiling decorations, the two paintings on the wall, and the small wooden table on the right breaks its sense of monotony.

We are still in the corridor of before, but in a different position. We see two interesting decorative elements on the right, a statue and two glass balls. They are placed on a mirrored countertop , which creates a pleasant optical illusion.

This detail of the dining room shows two impressive wall wine racks. They are strategically positioned near the elegant wooden oval table surrounded by classical leather chairs that we see in the foreground. The dark walnut colour  of the table and the floor perfectly pairs with the basic palette of dark grey and white that is utilized in the indoor spaces of the mansion.

We are in the kitchen, now. This detail shows a wide built-in hob below a big extractor hood. Cabinets and cupboards provide the chef with all the necessary space to store supplies and tools, while the practical marble countertop can be utilized as working surface.

In this second detail of the kitchen, a long countertop  with drop-in sink and a big table in white marble appear. White marble is a posh material that is often utilized in luxury estate designs. Very resistant and hygienic, yet elegant,  it is perfect for countertop and kitchen worktops and spashbacks.

In this view we see the whole kitchen through its door that is made with two glass panels, like in every luxury estate that is worth its name. Glass is very utilized in the world of luxury because this material adds a touch of sophistication and beauty to almost every  indoor environment.

Another dining room with a posh glass table surrounded by a set of chairs covered with white leather. Leather is expensive, it adds a touch of snobby elegance to any piece of furniture. Thus, it is perfect in a luxury estate. Notice the carpet, and its abstract design that recalls the colour of the palette of the indoor environments of this mansion.

We are in the living room, where a scenic fireplace with a minimalist mantelpiece in white marble gets immediately our attention. Elegant armchairs covered with white leather, wooden cupboards full of arcane objects, a comfortable couch and the lighting with halogen lamps create an ambience that is cosy and posh at the same time.

Again in the corridor, but our visit is going to finish.  Before leaving this beautiful luxury estate, we notice a cabinet covered with glass panel  on the right side. Statues, paintings and floral decorations embellish the corridor, while the floor is tiled with polished white marble. I hope that you have enjoyed this virtual trip.
