When I walked in, the guy behind the counter was loudly complaining that nobody cares when white people get murdered because "it's not sexy." I went to the head shop next door instead.

I've had by FAR the worst experience at this Dobbs of any mechanic I've been to. Short summary: I've taken my car in twice for simple things and both times they failed to fix it on the first try. They communicated poorly with each other and with me to the point that I don't know what they did with my car and why they charged me what they did. They made a dangerously stupid mistake with my windshield wipers. First experience: I took my car there for a flat tire. They replaced the valve and sent me on my way, and my tire was flat the next morning. I took it back and they looked again and found a hole. Sucks to take your car to the mechanic twice for something simple, but okay. Second experience, and why I will never be going back to this location or possibly any Dobbs: Both my headlights went out at once, and I took my car to this Dobbs to get them checked out. They called back a few hours later to say that they'd replaced one bulb and one fuse and that both headlights were working. When I got there, there were a couple red flags: first, I got charged more than I expected and no one could tell me why. It wasn't a big difference, but still weird that they couldn't tell me why I was charged more than I was quoted. Second, there was nothing on my receipt about the fuse. I asked about that, and the man at the desk said that they must have rolled the price of the fuse into the price of the bulb, which would explain why it was more expensive. I went home thinking that everything was fine. However, when I started my car that evening, one of my headlights was out. I called them back and they said they hadn't replaced a fuse, they'd only tapped on the bulb and it came back on. So I don't know -- and maybe THEY don't know -- what they actually did to my car. They did tell me that they could do a $125 diagnostic to figure out what was going with the light. I went back the following morning, hoping that I'd get to talk to a new person who'd just read the notes on the work and tell me what they did, but the two staff there were the same as the day before. One of them said to the other, "This is the one where we replaced one bulb and it needed another, but we only had one in stock." I asked if he really meant that my car had needed a second bulb and they hadn't told me. He informed me that they *had* told me, and to wait while he finished up with another customer, and that's when I walked out. They absolutely did not tell me that I'd need a second bulb. The itemized receipt I got from them states that they DID advise me that my high beams weren't working, so I know they at least made note of things that still needed work after my visit, but no mention of a second bulb. Finally, as a small side note, the first time I tried to use my windshield wipers after this visit, they didn't work. I discovered that when they closed the hood, they closed it ON my wipers so that they couldn't move. I'm not a mechanic and even I've never done that. I'm just grateful that I figured out that my wipers weren't working when I was safely parked and trying to clear the condensation off my windshield, rather than driving on the highway at the start of a storm. Ridiculous.
