Parse "name of TV Series - S01E02 - Name of episode" into iTunes meta data. you will have to set your own character counts for the series you are fixing, but that is easy. Or you can do it programmatically without much effort (not worth it for me, I only had on series to do).

tell application "iTunes"
repeat with thetrack in selection
set longName to name of thetrack
set video kind of thetrack to TV show
set name of thetrack to ((characters 31 through -1 of longName) as text)
set show of thetrack to ((characters 1 through 29 of longName) as text)
set myEp to (((characters 26 through 27 of longName) as text) as integer)
set episode number of thetrack to myEp
set mySeason to (((character 24 of longName) as text) as integer)
set season number of thetrack to mySeason
set seasonID to "S" & text -2 of "00" & (season number of thetrack as text)
set episodeID to "E" & text -2 of "00" & (episode number of thetrack as text)
set episode ID of thetrack to seasonID & episodeID
end repeat
end tell

(works under iTunes 12.2.1 for OS X, and probably other untested versions)

When my wife was getting her masters degree I used LaTeX (via BBEdit) to format all her papers for her classes. The results were so good that the professors wanted to know how she'd done them. Seriously, you have no idea how bad a job Word does on a basic document until you see what LaTeX is capable of. The first time you see a LaTeX documenting footnotes, you will be tempted to delete Word from your machine.

And really, basic documents are super simple, no more complicated than markdown.

I have very little need for formatted documents, but when I need to do something like write an important letter, I do it in LaTeX just because the output is so much better looking, and I think people react to a beautifully rendered document even if they aren't concious of it.

For anybody how might be a little bit intimidated by the complexity of LaTeX there is a wonderful WYSIWYM("what you see is what you mean" editor called LyX  (http://www.lyx.org).

It is free and available for the Mac. However, you get the best out of LyX if you know LaTeX already. The beauty of LyX is that it deals with a lot of nasty parts of LaTeX like adding packages (LyX does that almost automatically for you), allowing you to add easily references by searching directly in your library, showing your equations immediately, helps you to make tables, etc.

Btw., I use LaTeX and LyX to write scientific papers and Markdown for structured texts like drafts, lists, brainstorming, minutes, etc.

Tips & Tricks  -

I have the following:

ifconfig_re0="int xx.xx.xx.42 netmask 255.255.255.248"
ifconfig_re0_alias="int xx.xx.xx.45 netmask 255.255.255.255"

When I reboot, the IP takes effect, but not the alias.

Once the system is up, I type:

ifconfig re0 alias xx.xx.xx.45

And the alias works.

It gets fun when adding IPv6.. Just remember the chain..

First IPv6 is normal, first alias will be continued from IPv4 aliases, so alias0 and alias1 are IPv4, first IPv6 does not use alias and second IPv6 will be alias2.

When I post to my blog, a note gets posted to Twitter and to Google+. Looking at the referrer data for the last month where I've made a new post every day, 96% of the referrers are from twitter and only 4% from Google+

This is the most popular of my posts so far:

Good Chinese buffet. Decent selection and priced quite well.

Ugh. I really hate this chain. They imitate Chipotle, but badly. There's no reason to ever go to a Qdoba, everything about it is inferior.

I love shopping here. The produce is very fresh and quite cheap, the meat selection is enormous and I can get things here I can't get at the regular supermarkets. And, it's fun. there's all sorts of interesting products you might see here (Latvian soft drinks, Mexican tamale flour, pig snouts, chicken feet, or fruit I've never seen before). Service is a little spotty as there are often language issues, but wandering the aisles is an adventure.

OK, so ther are hundreds of Chipotle restaurants now, but this is a chain that doesn't taste like a chain. The food is excellent, from the cilantro rice to both choices of beans, and every variety of meat. Oh, and the salsas are all excellent (I like the green tomatillo myself, but I will sometimes order any of them because they are all outstanding). The guacamole is fresh and very tasty and everything they use is as good as it can be. There is no better burrito in any restaurant, chain or no.

Do you want Chinese Buffet? Do you want a huge selection of dishes? Do you want sushi and shrimp? LD Buffet is, like most all buffets, not quite as good as a regular restaurant, but it's still pretty good and the fact you get to pick and choose--well, that's what makes buffet fun. Staff is very nice and is quick to refill drinks. Selection is huge. There are fresh oysters and crab legs at dinner, and there are some more authentic chinese choices then as well (mostly in the seafood variety).
