Sunrise over Waipi'o Valley
I’m always happy to be able to check an item off the bucket list and today’s was watching the sun rise over Waipi’o Valley. Well, technically, it rose behind
the valley but we don’t need to split hairs over it. Much like yesterday’s sunrise, there was a thick layer of clouds sitting on the horizon, which ended up working in my favor because of the color that they held. Fortunately, there were some nice, billowy clouds further up in the sky that caught most of the golden yellows and oranges.
I think I was more excited about the actual drive down to the valley than I was getting there. I heard all sorts of stories and warnings about the insanely steep grade, which made me all the more excited. Fortunately, we had rented a trusty Jeep Wrangler, so I knew that I was in good hands. And you know what? That road is damn
steep! But it’s also damn
fun to drive it. You just need to be absolutely certain that you’re exercising caution and good judgement because one wrong move and you’re in for a not-so-good day.
