Over time, changes in your process needs occur, and a sensor you’ve connected to a Honeywell paperless recorder channel may be taken out of service. When this happens, we suggest that both the analog input and the pen be disabled. Here’s why:

Since bubblers can be used in small diameter pipes, they can be installed in tanks where other systems won’t fit #WisdomWednesday

In weighing applications, it is important to understand that stress does NOT equal strain.

Stress refers to force. It is a measurement of how much internal pressure a material is under when a force acts upon it. The bigger the force, or the smaller the surface area, the more stress there will be, and the more likely the material will deform, or change shape.

What about strain?
“A load cell is a physical element (or transducer) that can translate pressure (force) into an electrical signal.”

Has a quick start guide ever left you feeling more confused than before you read it? We've all been there. Often times quick start guides are so scant, they offer limited value.

However, Precision Digital recently released a new quick start guide for their PD6000 process indicator. A quick flip through the 12 pages revealed it was exactly what I believe a quick start guide should be (and what most aren't).

Check it out on my blog:
In the past decade or so, there’s been a trend towards putting a Quick Start Guide in the product box, probably in response to some bureaucratic requirement for a piece of paper in an era when manu…

Are you receiving a communication error with Honeywell's Process Instrument Explorer (PIE) configuration software? Check the COM port it installed on. Did you know PIE does NOT support COM ports above COM8? Don't worry - we'll show you how to change it, so you can get your controllers up and running.

In a bar strain gauge load cell, the cell is set up in a Z formation. The torque is applied to the bar and the 4 strain gauges on the cell will measure the bending distortion: 2 measuring compression, and 2 measuring tension.

When these 4 gauges are set up in a wheatstone bridge, it’s easy to accurately measure the small changes in resistance from the strain gauges.

Why use a bubbler for liquid level?

Because the only part of the bubbler that touches media is the air flow tube, it can be used for applications where you don’t want the liquid to contact a sensor. Plus, since the tube has no moving parts, bubblers are well-suited to measuring sewage, sludge, drainage water, or water with large quantities of suspended solids. And because the point of measurement has no electrical components, bubblers will work in hazardous areas.
